Big Cat, I had high hopes for Friday early in his career, and still hope that he does well. I've been disappointed with his inconsistency, but I like what he did against Butler and Cameron. Maybe he can use that as a springboard to bigger fights and higher paydays. There are certainly ranked heavies that he can beat when he's at the top of his game.
Friday should face Jason Estrada to test him further..Jason recently called out Chris Arreola..I dont think that will happen but Friday would be a good test for and if he beats Jason then he gets good accolades. The same could be said about Travis Walker..he too called out Arreola. Friday would be a good test. I saw 3 fights of Walker's. TJ Wilson 1 and 2 and the Garcia fight. Hes got power but thats it. This is a fight that Friday can WIN. Friday can take his power and win a points decision or knock him out. It will improve his standing. I think this is his best chance maybe. He can fight Monte Barrett. Monte is reeling off his win over Fields. This would be a good matchup. Golota too. Golota seems to be waiting around for that big fight to come along after beating Mollo. In the mean time he can face Friday. Lastly Brian Minto. Minto likes feasting on journeymen and doing so but he could (and should) step up and face gatekeeper Friday. Friday could very well deny his entrance into the upper heavyweight ranks. It would be a good matchup. Both powerful and bombs exchanged. Friday could win this(not saying definetly but he could). All good fights for Friday.
Why not the winner of Rahman-Toney? They're fighting for the WBO NABO title, and he's at least on the WBO radar (ranked #15 and won a minor WBO strap from Cameron), and they're both shot enough to give him a very good chance. If he dominates the winner of that match, yeah sure let him cash out (even in a likely losing effort) against a legit titlist. :good
heck why not face Solis after he beats Botha(as we presume he wil). Lets see if Solis can live up to the hype. Fridays got a lot of chances now hes got to take advantage of them(look at all the names I mentioned).
C-level fighters. Ahunanya was being beaten soundly by Shane Cameron but pulled it out at the end with the perpetual "puncher's chance." Fodder for Solis on the way up, perhaps. The two Butlers Alonzo and Rafael, and Tye Fileds were all exposed within a week. Pity there's nobody for Klitschko to fight, unless Sam Peter and Nikolai Valuev raise their game. Perhaps Povetkin, but I don't believe he's ready for prime time. Neither do I believe that Chris Arreola is championship material, but at least if the match with David Tua is made, it should be intriguing. David Haye? Not yet. Why aren't Dimitrenko and Greenberg stepping up?
yeah he might very lose to Solis...Fridays been terribly inconsistent his career..he is likeable however If you ever seen his fight with Terrence Lewis however it was maybe the most boring fight I have ever seen (ok maybe top 5) I remember lots of boos. The fight was declared a draw and I recall the commentators saying that the judges were right giving them a draw as no one deserved to win. It just depends on which Friday shows up.:bbb hes been good:good and badatsch
Hey Cat, I don't know if you caught my now totally pointless article I got on the front page in honor of you and your man after his recent big win: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=16217&more=1
I'm from NZ, and rooting for Cameron in his fight against Friday. Cameron was winning on the cards, but Friday was beating him badly towards the end. He almost had him out in the 9th round. Cameron is a bleeder, and he was a bloody mess. No way Friday was just winning with a "punchers chance." Despite being behind on the cards, he took Cameron to school. Still, if Cameron lasts another 45 seconds, he gets the victory. This all sounds like a contradiction. Just like Friday. He can beat some of the best. He can lose to so so fighters. I'd like him to stay with the young guns. How about Travis Walker? Tua already has dibs on Arreola, with the contract all but signed. Terms have been agreed upon.
Appreciate that. Unfortunately, it is now a compeltely moot point. Well, Friday and Peter would be a hell of a fight too.
How do you feel about Friday taking the winner of Rahman-Toney as a 'step-up' to a titlist (such as Peter)? Unlike all the other guys mentioned, these are both big names and former champs...and shot enough to not be too much of a threat.
