Marting.. I was absolutely disgusted on how we were dissed by the whole Georgia commission that night , i even sent the Atlanta board of control an E-mail but again no one even addressed our claims.. Panama Lewis looked me right in the eye that day knowing i was unhappy and he even winked right at me grinning.. He just had the whole event in his pocket... It was a disgrace...

Thanks for the re-cap. Sounds like a bad break for Friday.

How Panama Lewis is even allowed anywhere near a boxing ring is beyond me.

That's terrible Bigcat. Did anybody ever address this with Whitaker? I'd have plenty of sour grapes based on this fight alone if a thumb in the eye changed changed the course of a fight I was winning. I always had the impression that Whitaker was a SOB. Supposedly he had a scene in a restaraunt in Germany when he was there to fight Krasniqi and there was a guy who posted here a while back that said he could be a real *****.

Lance has a history of being a bully.. he smacked Boris Grinsberg ( ibragimovs manager) when they were at the press conference promoting thier bout.. The goosens were quite concerned at how lance was performing that night. they were in fact being interviewed between rounds by the tv analyst when Lance thumbed Friday... They were genuinely unhappy with Lance and the way he was ignoring instructions between rounds.. He got out of jail free ..

The irony is that when i was a lot younger i was close friends with Lances brother Stacey , he was in the military and we met at Caesars palace the week Holyfield and Bowe fought their 3rd bout.. Lance was a Holyfield team member and sparred occasionally with Holyfield, he swaggered around (quite an overweight young guy back then) and Stacey told me that he is very limited because of terrible knee injuries, Stacey himself called him a bully..

Little did we know that Friday would end up fighting him.. Friday and Lance were in fact still amateurs back then.. strange isnt it..

The only time I saw him was against Lyakhovich. He seemed very nervous on the big stage. Has he improved since then???

Friday became a lot more naturally relaxed after he beat Blocus on points...Josue was a dangerous puncher and was on a long unbeaten roll of knockout wins.. Friday quickly slowed his roll..

Shortly after that Friday became a cheif sparring partner for Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis.. He also prepared Wladimir Klitschko for the Shufford fight..

In preparation for the Cliff Ettienne fight , Friday knocked Mike Tyson over in sparring to the point where Tyson stopped the days sparring...

Friday became too dependent on having a great chin that he took on all comers.. hence the list of top guys he has faced regardless of reputation, i just wish we had beaten more of them ..

The recent win over Shane Cameron 19 -0 was maybee a last chance saloon.. we now have a few nice belts that we may be able to use as great bargaining tools for larger things...

    God bless.

I'm sorry, man, but I'm calling you out on this one. I've seen this fight several times. The knockdown in the third was legit but Sultan hopped right back up.

Other than the knockdown, Ibragimov pretty much dominated with his aggression. Friday landed some shots but SI was far more active and clearly won virtually every round.

The cut came from a headbutt when Ibragimov actually punched Friday and their heads clashed. The stoppage didn't look all that controversial, Sultan didn't look in panic mode and the decision was accurate.

I understand hyping your fighter, but at least report the facts correctly.

As far as his future, Friday is a strong, durable fighter, but he really doesn't have a great skill set to suggest he'll ever approach the top 10.

    At 35, he's a trialhorse stepping stone, a dangerous one , maybe, but he's not a contender.

Just watched the Shane Cameron highlights on Youtube. Impressive stuff. Like the way he kept catching him with uppercuts. They mentioned on the Australian news piece that he may be in line for a shot at the WBA title????Friday seemed to have three belts on after the fight. Cameron's manager was very complimentary about him afterwards. Wish him good luck for the future as it sounds that he could do with a break.

If thats the way you see it i can't change your views.. If he was winning comfortably what was he doing on the floor.. and with a cut cheek.. I thought it was quite even, but we just seemed to think all the time we were involved in that event no one gave us much co operation.. What was Panama Lewis doing involved??

I like Sultan, if you saw us heavily beaten then i respect your opinion..

    God bless...

I'm just saying, the counter right knockdown from Friday was a nice shot and a 10-8 round for him, but I didn't see him being active enough to win any other rounds.

I don't know about Panama being involved, I only know what I saw watching the fight. The cut was certainly bad enough that the stoppage wasn't all that controversial, and honestly, just by judging from Sultan's expressions and body languauge, it didn't look he gave a **** about it and would have kept fighting.

I suppose it is conceivable that Lewis influenced the stoppage, but the ultimate outcome of the fight scoring-wise was completely fair.

    Your opinion is likewise respected.

Hey, Eman and Big Cat. Cut out that stuff about respecting each other's opinions and being civil. This is ESB; you're supposed to be name calling and insulting anyone who disagrees with you!

Anyway, I appreciate both of your views on the fight, since I didn't see it.

yes, i suppose as being involved i may be a liitle naurally biased , but when all cut and dried.. we are talking about having thecurrent WBO champion on the floor and in trouble, that speaks for itself..

along with losing on points to Sergei.. The former world champ..

and losing on points to the unbeaten heir apparent Alex Povetkin.. who just stopped Chris Byrd..

I'd say we are more than an ordianary fighter in the mix..

I see Friday at this point as a Dominick Guinn level fighter (who he drew with). A guy with potential but who just doesn't beat A level fighters when he steps up.

This could change, but he'd need several nice wins to change his ranking.

    What opponents are being considered?

He's tough and can cause problems, but I see him more of a gatekeeper type of fighter. He can expose a lot of guys shortcomings but I don't see him ever breaking into the top ten.

I would love to see a copy of his fight with Ibragimov if anyone has it on DVD.
