Good card from Frank Maloney. The top of the bill fight between Chris Edwards and Andy Bell played out well with Bell coming away the new champion.

Danny Reynolds destroyed Jason Rushton in round one for the Central Area Light Middle belt in a very good fight. Reynolds looks really promising and is undefeated but he is 29 having made his debut at 27, still he looks a decent punt for domestic contention.

Lee Haskins won against crowd favorite Jaime McDonnell in a decent fight. Many ringside were very un happy with the result. I do not know how you guys saw it watching on tv but I had McDonnell a clear winner.

Kevin Conception stopped Darren Rhodes in a good fight. Kevin was a class above and is ready for moving into title contention.

John Fewkes kept himself busy with a UD win over French journeyman Frederick Gosset. Fewkes did his usuall stuff of winning rounds while making sure the opponent can not connect. He looked good and fit.

Gary Sykes had a very good fight with war horse Peter Allen. Allen seemed disapointed with the loss but Sykes was the clear winner. Sykes is one to watch, he has everything but power.

Danny Wallace UD win over Rakhim Mingaleev in an ok affair. Wallace looked useful in stages but never landed enough to stop his opponent.

Billy Boyle won by default. Mark Neilsen retired at the end of round one, he fought badly and looked in pain from early on. Billy looked good again.

Karl Shiverton managed a UD against Martin Sweeney in a good fight where both landed good punches on each other.

Mike Holloway managed a UD win over Delroy Spencer. Ok fight.

    AND...

Tyrone Nurse won by UD against Kristian Laight. Both showed skill and a desire to win but Nurse looked in a class above. He hit Laight with some good shots through out the fight and caught him with some great body shots too. Night Nurse can be very proud of his win. He looked abit over excited in the opening round but calmed down to show a very good performance, he also had Kristian in trouble more than a few times but Kristian is hardly ever stopped. I gave him a cheer from ESB.

Two more points about the evening, well maybe just one big one. The security was not great. Constantly people were barging to the front and stopping the first few rows of the cheap seats from seeing the action, the security did little to stop this which was disapointing and caused uneeded unrest. On top of that a huge fight erupted ouside. Which involved the security and police. I think it involved the Doncaster contingent who were unhappy about McDonnell's loss.

Funny thing one. Halfway through the Gary Sykes bout a big kid came to ringside and started arguing with this old fella. The bloke next to him started arguing back and it resulted in abit of pushing and shoving and shouting. Anyway security were actually on hand this time to stop it...Turned out Kevin Copception and the Leicester mob were ready to leave and on the coach but without Kevins dad. Kev's brother was the big kid and the old guy was Kev's dad who did not want to leave because he had payed money to watch the fights and insisted the coach waited.

Funny thing two. I waked straight into Danny Wallace has he made his ring entrance...oops.

Kevin is one of the two best prospects in the Midlands - the other being Wolverhampton's Dean Harrison, 11-0, who meets Gary Reid in Wolverhampton on April 30.
Concepcion is a hundred times better than Martin (skill and chin-wise). The one thing that Martin does have and Kev doesn't is one-punch power - although the count out over durable Darren Rhodes may suggest otherwise.
Still, Kev is all about the flashy, eye-catching, measured boxing. I have seen nearly all his fights (didn't see him last night) and he has looked a cert for a British title. He sells a ticket, too, and signing a three-year deal with Maloney will help him open doors he couldn't otherwise have done with his co-promoters, Coventry and Leicester Sporting Club.
Little fact for you here: Kevin has yet to drop a single round in over 56 scheduled sessions.
The ultra-confident Leicester middleweight has a big future.
Well done to Mr Nurse, by the way, on outpointing slippery and durable Kristian Laight. I’m moving to Huddersfield in September so hopefully you and Gary Sykes can bring some fights back the Dewsbury/Huddersfield area.

Yep. I have been hearing really good things about Kevin for awhile now. He looked good last night, very measured and a clean hitter with good skill, he took a couple of shots but kept up his momentum. Maybe he will take Rhodes places against Woolcombe in April? He did not suffer any damage and Rhodes was the noted opponent for that fight.

To be honest you were alot better than I expected. I do not want to boost your confidence too much but you put in a very very good performance. :good

The shorts were real class. Like Amir Khan but without the camp chav quality. Best shorts of the night by far and certainly better than Laights light blue number.

I saw you walking about after the fight late on but did not get chance to come over. In my original place I would have been right next to where you sat at one point but I had to move because of idiot Doncaster folk. Well done. Hope you perform locally again. :good

The shorts were very flashy. :good Very nice and the Union flag really looked good, a nice touch of class.

The more the fight went on the more assured and class you looked. You put alot of venon into your punches and showed good skill. :good

I'm moving to Paddock, mate. Hopefully there can be some more shows in Huddersfield in the coming years - like there was a few years ago with Hobson and Hare.

I wasn't there, no. I was meant to be going to watch Kevin Concepcion but my car had to go into repair on the Tuesday. Gutted.
