Beck was brought in as a brand name Fodder......... He got his ass kicked..........

Is it me, or does Tony Thompson kinda' look like a bigger version of former light-heavy jailbird James Scott.?.? Freaky.......

A good "Exposure" win for Thompson tonight......

Still, at Tony T's age, he'll never be champ..........

The hell is up with having "7" kids????????? He ain't that wealthy........ He'll have to fight until he's 50 to support that crop.......... CHRIST!

Its hard for me to believe that youve ever seen Beck if you think he's pretty good. Beck is terrible.

 

The Lundy fight was pretty good. Lundy needs to learn to settle down. He needs to figure out that patience and aggression are not mutually exclusive. He should have stopped that other kid, but he gets got over anxious and wild.

Thompson/Beck was a one sided beating.

 

Toney Thompson is a very underrated fighter.

 

Oh -- and Atlas picked Martinez.

 

Only a Klitschko fan would say such ridiculousness.

 

Well Beck is officially done. This was his last chance to do anything worthwhile in the division and he blew it. Congrats to Tony.

 

tony thompsons punches were so slow and painful to watch and just as bad to beck who couldnt avoid them.....atlas said thompson was the best heavyweight without a belt....and that is sad...because he is joe average.....20 years ago, for a guy to be one of the best and not have a belt his name was ruddock, lewis, morrison, witherspoon, mercer, bowe, dokes, hell even alex stewart , bruce seldon, and joe hipp
its a sad day when a guy like tony thompson is being touted as one of the best at 38 and looking like he did tonight.....

 

I was rooting for all three favorites and none of them disappointed.

I had the pleasure of sitting ringside for Hammerin' Hank Lundy's last win, a hard-fought victory in a somewhat sloppy slugfest with Richard Abril headlining a local card. He was supposed to have faced Brad Solomon (the guy who beat "The New Ray Robinson") but the late replacement actually made for a better action affair in retrospect. Here against Hendrix he pretty much had his way but didn't pace himself properly. He could have scored a KO had he done so. He's been down against two consecutive opponents but hurt by neither so it's nothing to worry about. He's on pace with minimal patchwork to become a very good lightweight, maybe just shy of elite level.

Lanard Lane now has fourteen straight solid rounds under his belt honing his offensive craft...he's overdue for a smashmouth stoppage. Or someone who will test him defensively. Another project that I'm very high on (higher than Lundy, actually).

Tony Thompson - like it or not - is, despite his age and speed (or lack thereof) a top five HW right now. This blowout of Beck was meaningless - look to his surgically precise destruction of Witherspoon for more convincing proof. He's awkward, calm, and accurate. Top five among active HW's - absolutely no doubt about it in my eyes, and has been for a while right now. Most of the top contenders in the division can be rated based on how well they've performed in recent losing efforts against Wladimir Klitschko. Thompson probably put up the best fight (not counting virtually all-defensive efforts like Chambers') - only Brock and Chagaev came close to having as many good moments. I don't know if it's in Tony's best interests to have his wish of a rematch fulfilled, but I'm happy to see him pick up checks while he's still able-bodied, and preferably against a higher grade than Beck if available.

 

Beck looked fat, slow and powerless.

I remember watching him box Monte Barrett. he looked much better then.
