Don't hear too much about these two here. I'm a big fan of both. What's your opinion on them and who do u feel is the better fighter?
Two great fighters for sure. Lou Ambers was a truly great lightweight who is so underrated today...Beat Armstrong, Pedro Montanez, Tony Canzoneri, Baby Arizmendi etc. A great infighter who I rank in the top 10 of lightweights... Sir Fritzie Zivic, whom I saw once in his later days decisioning a great WW prospect Billy Arnold at MSG was a wily and rough ole cuss, who knew every trick of the trade. Zivic once took apart Henry Armstrong and stopped Armstrong. Fritzie was inconsistent in his younger days but became a tough, tough welterweight to tangle with in his championship years. Fritzie had 233 fights in his career, almost FIVE times more than a Mayweather... He came from the same city of Pittsburgh along with the great Harry Greb and Billy Conn...
Without question Lou Ambers who beat great fighters and lost only 6 bouts out of 100 fights not counting the kos he received from Lew Jenkins in his last bouts. Zivic was very inconsistent in his career losing64 fights from a total of 233 bouts. P.S. my dad was a cab driver who picked up Lou Ambers and his corner guys at MSG in 1941 the night Lew Jenkins kod lou Ambers in Amber's final fight.. My dad would tell me that Ambers kept saying " I ain't goy it anymore " ! He retired after this fight...
