Fighting a few hours after weighing in, he'd be seriously weakened, he'd probably be at MW in those days. Zivic is the better boxer no doubt, Margo is an excellent physical specimen despite his limitations. I think its a tough fight for both men, Zivic has the edge as long as he doesn't suffer too much of a size disadvantage
That's a tough though PP. It's basically asking ths question - is a limited face-first pressure fighter going to be more affective getting hit by smaller WW's whilst weight-drained or bigger MW's? Certainly his strength and size are suddenly worthless.
I think he maybe a big MW back then, he'd walk in the ring at 160 for 1 thing something few did, then if he wanted he could probably grow to a 164lb-166lb fighter, skip breakfast/water in the morning and weigh in at 160 and be a massive MW for that era In the old 8divisions with same day weigh ins though where fights were frequent, far less fighters could get away with this type of weight management. Its an art form in itself today. Actually its part of the battle today
:blood Ezzard Charles made the MW limit in the 40's, he was six feet tall and later carried 180 with comfort. I hardly thing you can label him "massive". He'd be taller than some guys though, just like he would have been in the 00's.
This is the key I think. Margo had no clue what to do with Mosley's simple "punch and grab" tactics. He'd get a lesson-and-a-half in infighting from Zivic.
No doubt, that happened, and generally fighters were shorter for exactly this reason, i'm just saying, Margarito as a "massive" middleweight, I wouldn't say so.
Either way Zivic beat enough middleweights in his time to lead me to believe that any size advantage Marga might have wont be enough to make up for the gulf in ringcraft and smarts.
