If he went onto win the tournament, then yes he easily surpasses Calzaghe. Infact I personally feel if he beat Kessler then has matched/exceeded what calzaghe has done. Froch has began to mix it up with the best the division has to offer, something Calzaghe never did, his best win was against Jeff limited Lacy. Where as Froch has fought Pascal, who is far better than lacy. Froch also has a big win over Taylor, far better than any fighter on calzaghes resume (excluding Hopkins & Jones, the first controversial, the latter damaged goods). So if Froch beats Kessler, than he has matched/exceeded Calzaghe, no less.
Its an interesting thought, I guess in your scenario Froch resume to Calzaghes resume would be Froch - Calzaghe Pascal - Eubank Taylor - Reid Dirrell - Woodhall Abraham - Kessler Kessler - Lacy Ward - Brewer Green - Mitchell Its a tough one because we dont know how far some of the guys on Frochs list will go (will Dirrell, AA and Green win titles at SMW?). I guess Calzaghe has some weight to his argument with 21 defences including Bika Sheika Starie Veit (who holds a win and loss to current WBO LHW champ Braehmer) Winning all of the SMW titles and Ring belts at SMW & LHW, and wins over Hopkins when LHW champ and a faded but still top 10 Ring rated Jones. I think Calzaghe would still have a better resume, but Froch is fortunate that the guys on his resume are more well known especially with the super 6, and Froch would be WBC, WBA and (Ring champ probably)
Why I think Froch will have the better resume (not necessarily legacy) is because he is facing opponents in their prime. Calzaghe's slate is filled with FORMER champion after FORMER champion - so they must have got beat somewhere, there's a distinct lack of CURRENT and FUTURE champs. Froch already has a win over a future champion, probably two - and the come from behind stoppage of Taylor. Form is important in boxing, I'd much rather take a guy that was unbeaten and unproven than an opponent on a run of losses - certainly from a legacy point of view.
Well said. If Froch wins the super six he becomes of the pound for pound surely? He is the best super middleweight in the world thus he desevers to be in the top 10. I think Froch can go far in this tournament and yes i also think he can win it, with the major problem being Andre Ward. Froch by the end of the super six will have a better resume than Calzaghe. (Infact he already does)
Froch will retire with no regrets and more respect by the fans for seeking out the toughest fights. Remember Froch was trying to negotiate a fight wit Bute before the Super 6 came up which shows you how much he respects the fans. He is not interested in padding his record with tomato cans.
"If you could create the perfect woman, who's face, arse, tits and legs would you have" "If you were God/president/prime minister for a day, what would you do" "Imagine you were gay for 5 seconds, giver or taker" It's what people do...
Buy a dictionary, go to the chapter marked "H" and look for the definition of the word Hypothetical..... cabbage brain :rofl:nut
And yes Froch would surpass Joe, although h2h Calzaghe would UD him handily in my opinion. Joe could have been greater than he is.
stop nutslicking Froch... hes not more than a good fighter with lot of heart and overconfidence... soon he'll be back to earth
I can't imagine Froch winning the tournament, but yes, he would have a better resume than Calzaghe if he wins the tournament. Particularly if he sweeps it.
