They were definitely doing it off the telly which is fair enough if you're not going to do the live show. They didn't sound very spontanous though with the last round though. 5Live coverage didn't give Froch the credit for getting back into the fight after the knock down but the last round commentary was excellent, until Duke started ranting about Froch being lucky.
The five live coverage was mega exiting, ITV's coverage lacklustre really. Mcguigan's views and comments seemed to be a bit haphazard. Not to do with anything really but he let out a strange sound when Froch caught Taylor sweetly in the mid rounds. I think the BBC were a bit harsh on how Froch was performing. They did give a worse impression of him then what actually happened early on. Having said that, at the end of the day, Froch needed something miraculous to win - a knockout - so they did tell it how it is. You were under absolutely no illusion that Froch was going, into the last, to win the fight by just winning the round - which is how it was.
Yea, I was going to comment on that. There was a massive jump somewhere in his scoring - or at least that's what it seemed like.
itv missed a trick big time by not using the showtime broadcast watched it on you tube it was great, and the finish was made 10 times more exciting than itvs version of it. would make froch look a hell of a lot better as well check it out, got something like 150,000 views in 2 days
Never heard the five live commentary but i thought ITV's was rotten. McGuigan was overly critical of Froch for the whole fight and Rawling is an idiot.
I listened on the radio and was given the impression Froch was given a battering .When I watched on telly I thought it was much closer
There's never been an occasion when I've heard the UK and USA commentary on the same bout and thought the UK version was better, and this was no exception. The Americans just seem able to describe things better while being more enthusiastic. Plus Rawling is a tool who should really just stfu.
