http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-17088977 Another one hits the dust! :-( What the hell is wrong with these people?
I'm sure it happens all the time. Heck, fighters probably even bet on the other guy & then take a dive, for themselves. - But so weird for Froch to admit it, especially while he's still an active fighter. Perhaps deep down inside, he's hoping to have his license revoked. He knows he's in decline, but can't bring himself to quit, so he makes a statement like this hoping it will cause him to be forced out.
Vitali let Adamek of the hook for sure. Had him going in round 2 and just didn't want to finish it. Either out of sympathy but more likely from pressure from the tv networks after the Solis debacle.
I wonder if he had a punt at the Dirrell fight too? That stunk of a fix too. I remember at the time people jumping around on here shouting "Super Fix Tournament"
Froch says it isn't illegal, but the BBBoC have said it is! Remember Haye running his mouth about him, his family and friends betting on round 3 against Harrison?!? He suddenly denied it when the BBBoC ordered a "investigation" because it is illegal! It's fixing a sport event for financial gain however you f#cking slice it. At least he's honest about it, but if the BBBoC has any backbone at all they have to adress it (not like with Haye when denying afterwards was enough for them to drop the investigation).
So what now, you're gonna' hate on us for being able to stop our opponents when and how we choose? Froch a mu'****in' G.
I think it was of sympathy (Vitali said that himseld), he probably didn't want to "embarass" Adamek in front of so many of his fans. Vitali is a good guy for doing that.
In a way he's right, if you are good enough to pick the round and prolong it there's nothing wrong with it. The young Cassius Clay used to pick the round, and imply that he'd carry this guy or that guy for a few rounds. Fighters make such boasts all the time. But Froch is foolish to admit that he had friends and family benefitting from this with the betting. When there's betting involved, there's loads of room to manipulate. For example : What if the opponent's people get in on the same action too ? What if the opponents hears about it and quits in the 4th to avoid getting KO'd in the designated 5th ? And all sorts of other possibilities. I'm sure it happens all the time. But Froch shouldn't have mentioned the betting.
I don't care about it, but it still it's fixing a sport event to bet on it... While betting on it... Is it fair to KO someone in round 5 when you could stop him earlier? Is it fair to KO someone in round 6 when everybody expects a KO1? Is it fair to go the distance when everyone expects a KO? Is it fair to go down in round x in a fight, you're easily winning? Is it fair to lose a fight while you should have won it? Is it fair to lose on KO in round x, while you should have won it? It's about drawing a line, when it's still a fair bet. How would you feel now if you put $500 on a KO inside 4 rounds or something? And I'm sure the British bookies feel cheated also.
