Andy Lee? Would be a decent money-maker I'd have thought and a chance to win another belt? Cotto has no interest in GGG.
Show of hands lads - does anyone reckon this will actually go ahead? I think Froch will retire personally
EEEEUUUUBAAAAANK. He's in line for golovkins WBA if he fights & beats Daniel Jacobs right? Who wants to see that?! Snr says Chris beats GGG. :nut
If he does fight again, i think this will be the fight. I'll be positive and yes - would love to see it
Why couldn't this be made. It has all the ingredients of a claasic fight. If the money is right then it can go ahead. Win win scenario for both boxers.
Would a win push Froch past Calzaghe as the greatest British SMW? It'd certainly tighten the gap. Excellent fight. Hope it happens.
I think opinion would still be divided like it is now. It depends on the manner of the victory also and what Golovkin goes on to achieve above 160lbs. This could maybe be compared to Calzaghes win against Hopkins as Hopkins who was also an excellent former middleweight who was highly ranked P4P. The main differences are that while Hopkins was older, he was/is more proven than GGG.
Beating Golovkin would be a miles better win than beating Hopkins, can't see how it's even debatable. Calzaghe was 4-1 on favorite to win that fight, after Taylor and with Hopkins age, it was supposed to be an easy nights work for him, lets not forget that. Yeah, Hopkins was still a top fighter and is an ATG but he was past prime and the win gets hugely overrated by Calzaghe fans, especially considering how the fight actually went. I mean you don't see people bigging up Jermain Taylor and Chad Dawson for beating Hoipkins, and they both dealt with him in a much more convincing manner than Calzaghe did.
It's debatable because Hopkins had beaten top fighters and was still beating top fighters. Hopkins was also more proven at the weight. Golovkin hasn't proven he can hack it at SMW and can beat guys on the level and/or size of Trinidad, De La Hoya, Wright, Pavlik, Pascal and Tarver.
even trolls are hard pushed to pretend waiting on purse bids constitutes a duck. actively pursuing a catchweight fight against a much lower opponent, however, isn't such a great leap.
