I see quite a similarity in how Froch and Mayorga fight and while Mayorga's career is all but over it is interesting to compare the two .

They both have had success against some skilled boxers they both throw haymakers from long range and yet still are able to connect due to good timing . Being tough and having good endurance are equal contributors to getting the W.

They also have similar weaknesses , they get hit too much and against someone just as tough but more skilled they lose , usually badly via a KO .

Froch got the win yes but his style is very limited , hats off to him though for all he has achieved and his sensible attitude.

Andrade vs Froch is equivalent to rockem sockem boxing , raw and brutal it would be and a sure sell out in England.

Kessler would dissect Froch and probably stop him in the middle to late rounds , I expect Froch doesn't want Kessler anytime soon.

kessler has skill but something tells me he lacks heart, if you watch the calzaghe fight after round 8 he seem to give up that might be a factor if froch and kessler got it on

Do I need to draw your attention to round 12 in Kessler v Calzaghe. From memory I thought Kessler threw everything but the kitchen sink at him and was going for the KO.

Yes I guess there is some broad similarities between Mayorga and Froch in that they are both very crude, have minimal defense and its hard to work out exactly why they beat good opposition, but other than their chins I think the specifics of their fighting style is a bit different. Mayorga is more of a brawler and is far more capable and accomplished.

Froch should read threads like this and use it as motivation to f'kin improve; he was a good amateur and is degenerating as a fighter. Good chin and power are great intangibles to have, but don't just discard everthing else.
