I don’t take anything I hear from Froch seriously on the matter of Ward. This man is a known hater because Ward was the only person who conclusively beat him in his pro career.

I rate Bivol from the eye test I think he has the most upside of the LHW division, I said it when I saw him whoop Valera. However Ward would have too much experience for him imo, Bivol hasn’t fought anyone like Ward with the type amateur and professional background.

    Thoughts?

Bivol is co promoted by Hearn, so yes expect Sky crew to get his name out there.

Huge Ward fan, he got beat by Kov the first fight in my opinion and that fight let him know he’s more was more vulnerable the he expected. It’s not just that Bivol influenced it completely. The money he would have gotten for fighting Bivol and the other two Russians was a tuff task ahead of himself. Especially for the money he would get. He did the smart thing g rest let the body heal let these kids fight each other give each other a lost then he will clean up after. Which is smart but there was no telling how long it would have taken

Bivol isn't ready to fight someone like Ward. Ward would have too much experience for him.

My thoughts are why did you start a thread about it then? Seems like you do take what he says seriously.

Ward retired at the right moment some of the new guys at LHW would give him huge problems (Dmitry Bivol, Beterbiev, Gvozdyk, Yarde) but it's still sad a fight between Ward and Stevenson hasn't happend (same with Kovalev vs Stevenson)

It had to be Froch though Lool this guy has been saying negative things about Ward ever since his loss.

Yarde??? Lool come on man he ain’t even beaten anyone in probably in the top 100, but I agree with the rest of your comment. I think Ward looked at how dangerous the division was becoming and after two gruelling fights with the top 5 p4p & king of division at the time to have people are still questioning he probably thoughts what’s the point.

    Go to the scene.
I wanted to hear other people’s opinion just coz I don’t agree with someone, other people might agree and offer an argument which comes from a less biased position than Froch.

Froch just being Froch, he'll take a pop at Ward whenever he can, he's clearly got some resentment left over from the loss and not getting a chance at a rematch.

Ward retired because he wasn't going to be making decent money in the US anymore as it was clear to all including Roc Nation and HBO that he was never going to be a draw. He would eventually ended up like Rigo, respected for his skill but couldn't draw flies.

Only way Ward could of made money was if he was willing to go to the UK. The rematch with Froch, fights with Groves, DeGale and Eubank Jr would of all been lucrative at some point but he never wanted to fight outside of the US, so he retired.

He said he would fight Froch in the UK but not in Nottingham, which I thought was fair. He also was prepared to fight Bellew in the Uk he wanted too much money according to Bellew and I believe him.

Ward never knocked anyone out at Wembley in front of 80,000 people

Yeah Ward also said he wanted the fight at Wembley stadium when in reality there was no way they were going to fill Wembley. He wanted a Froch/Groves like event and the purse to match but Hearn made it clear that was never going to happen with Froch/Ward. It was to be in Nottingham because that's where it would of made the most money. Groves is a Londoner so he had a fan base there already for it to be made at Wembley Stadium unlike Ward and Froch.
