How can he dictate the terms of he wasn’t even the favourite nor was it under his promoter? I’m not aware of the program but it doesn’t make sense.

Would you disagree Ward used his left way more than usual for that fight? I found the fight to be fairly one sided. I had it 9-3 for Ward, there wasn’t a need for a rematch for me but I understand Froch had a big name after his win over Froch.

Okay I checked it out, that’s good business by Ward although I personaly don’t like that he didn’t fight in anyone else’s back yard that’s a mark against his legacy, but with all that being said he still wasn’t the favourite going into the tournament.

Lol, yeah another prime example of Ward saying the wrong thing and the wrong time, the man was a PR train wreck. That comment has haunted his entire career in regards to fighting away from home.

Froch should shut up about retirement reasons, his own retirement wasn't exactly a story he can be proud of. Especially when it became public he was more eager to get a nose job rather than fight for a final huge payday in front of a packet arena.

    From another boxing site:

Yvon Michel of Interbox, a Montreal-based promoter who has been around, has conceded that he wouldn’t mind if his charge undertook to engage in a unification fight against another recognized champion at 175 pounds in Hopkins, but he also appeared ready to offer a unique and ambitious deal to Andre Ward, the WBA “Super” super middleweight champion (which, we assume, must mean that he is REALLY super).

It entails a guarantee of two fights. The first one would be at 168 pounds, in Ward’s hometown of Oakland, with a scheduled September date. Such a thing shouldn’t be impossible for Stevenson to do, considering that he only recently moved from the super middleweight ranks, although it doesn’t seem to allow a lot of time to do it in.

The built-in rematch would take place at a date to be determined, but it would be at 175 pounds, and in Montreal, which is not only where Michel is based but is also Stevenson’s adopted hometown (he is a native of Haiti).

The two-fight series would give each man a chance to fight in their own hometown, where they would put their own belt on the line.

There are glitches with such a thing, however. Perhaps the more prudent way to do it would be to reverse the fights, to ensure that a belt would legitimately be on the line in both. To illustrate, if Ward were to fight the first bout at 175, he would have a chance to win Stevenson’s belt, though his own wouldn’t be at risk. Then, Stevenson would have a chance to drop weight and fight for Ward’s title.

I think a rematch would have tied things up.
Ward could have shown that he could travel and win.
Froch wouldnt have been on such a long run of fatiguing travels and more refreshed.

I didnt think Ward did much different.
I did read that Ward said he wasnt aware of the injury and that it wasnt a problem.
Dont make me have to find that one like I had to dig for the video lol. It took ages because I couldnt remember where I had seen it
If he wasnt aware and didnt find it to be a problem, he wouldnt know to do anything different

Dan Goosen was the man who ensured the tournament took place in America on Ward's turf.

    It is on record.

Ward never had the courage to fight away without advantages.

This is why he vehemently opposed the idea of fighting Froch in a rematch in the UK where he would have undoubtedly doubled his purse.

His whole career was based around fear.fear of losing the 0 on his record that he was willing to bend most of not all the rules of the sport.

Not favourite, but had it a bit stacked by having the fights at home. Look at Frochs run and it was far more travelling.

    Home advantage offers alot

Was this before Ward fought Dawson? Or after he beat his mandatory in Rodrguez?

It offers a lot if the fight was close like the Kovalev fight but I don’t think it would have won that fight for Froch at all or that would be a real robbery.

Froch did do a lot of travelling, but he look like he lost that Dirrell fight and he lost to Kessler too. Ward didn’t beat Froch in Oakland.
