Someone posted this in the General. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ot...oised-world-championship-fight-home-town.html
I'm not convinced. Haye couldn't sell out 20k for a fight against a fellow Brit for a world title so an unknown Romanian isn't going to do much for him. I don't see that Froch is any more popular, he's quite right to bank on his local following. This does not sound all that feasible to me. Why would Bute want to sacrifice his PPV Prime time slot in Canada? He's big news.
7,000. Does seem a tad small. They should at least have 10,000 seater for this one. Hennessy also puts on decent undercards so you'd expect those fighters to shift a few tickets.
I want to see it. Froch has the power to get to him. The crowd can play a big factor in demoralising the fighter. Plus Froch can get hyped from his people. I want to see this for sure. Make it happen.
Massive bill. Fury, Witter and the rest of them on the card. Put it on ITV 1 at 9.30. Froch has had two fight of the years in a row!
Showtime want a 2am start. Maybe they could show it on tape delay like they did for Vitali-Peter :think I agree about having a massive bill. That way they could have it in a bigger arena.
10,000 sounds right, I thought that was what it held anyway. Birmingham is somewhere near Nottingham so he could still get his local fans and the extra money he deserves. Can't see him doing the O2 or anything like that, 20k is a lot of extra heads to find. I'll be flabbergasted if Bute's people take this. Showtime would rather cover the fight in Montreal I'm certain. Canadian PPV certainly would, they need it on prime time. That is some forces moving against Froch holding this at home. On the other side of the coin Froch is nothing like a PPV draw, he couldn't even get a TV deal last time. Yeah he's a world champ, but so is Bute, he can't use that card as leverage. As much as we'd like to see Froch at home it doesn't make sense and I think Froch recognises that when he says he's willing to travel anywhere.
It will be on at 2am here. I would like to see Fury fighting for a belt Witter vs Alexander for the WBC title. Get it on at the 02 or the MEN, dont reckon they would allow them to fight at Forest Ground at 2am.
good fight for froch especially if you consider the other names that were mentioned, it will be another life and death fight, although potentially he could get out boxed but bute tends to tire and will have to fight close to a perfect gameplan to shut him out, we could see a very similar fight to froch vs taylor
The article was only put on the Mail website site this evening at 7:49pm. So could be a later breaking story out of the Hennessy camp, could hear more tomorrow. :?
