As I have already posted, an executive from Sauerland said that they did in fact counter the offer. Regarding Pavlik well we all know that he looks too deep in the bottle sadly.
I don't believe money is everything for a fighter like Froch, I think he'd rather take a smaller payday in Vegas than fight Bute in Canada. And as for Ward I don't think he's ever left America in his life so getting him up to Montreal would be like getting blood out of a stone.[/quote] But Showtime might have a saying in the whole thing. It's preferable to have a live crowd than an empty arena in AC. Or Bute vs S? winner could be underneath a bigger fight, but at Showtime, it seems impossible.
Like i said before, money isn't everything. I also don't think the difference in money Bute's opponent would even be that significant between USA and Canada. Obviously UK is out of the equation due to time difference and TV contracts with showtime, but the only difference would be gate money, of which Bute isn't likely to want to give up in Canada as he's the "draw". Only place the fight makes sense is America.

I was also under the impression that Ward isn't a big ticket seller. If I'm wrong,I'm happy to be corrected.

Promoted properly the fight would sell in Vegas. AC is a dying town, I still dont understand why so many fights are taken there. Put it this way, I don't believe Froch will ever take the fight in Canada, unless he loses the S6 and it's his only way back at the title. Ward is gonna be Showtimes golden boy, so again no way they throw him to the lions in Canada. that fights got more chance of taking place in Oakland than Canada, and i believe it would be just as big a travesty if it did.
for all i care lets have the fight on a boat in the middle of the atlantic as to please everyone...still say bute wins it.

The source for your information being?! ... What has been clearly stated by officials is Bute has not been invited. There have been many unsubstantiated rumors, unofficially one might argue that Bute was more interested to have the rematch with Andrade in order to clear out that issue than participating to such a tournament and Showtime staff were reluctant to include him in the start list; but being scared for having to travel elsewhere that's new speculation. BTW, how many fights in S6 did Andre Ward dispute outside California? So refresh my memory: what division had Arthur Abraham competed in when invited to join S6 tournament (July 2009)? OTOH, how many matches at SMW and LHW did Pavlik already have at mid-2009?! He was at least as good contender as Abraham, yet he did not received any invite (though he could've declined it).
In hindsight, putting that daft pisshead Pavlik in would've been an absolute nightmare for SHowtime to deal with.
In what fight was ever Froch considered a huge underdog to say that he is not afraid of a potential loss on his record? It's only with Ward that he is a big underdog. I just think people misunderstood the part with being afraid of losing. I think both Ward and Bute are shitting their pants on the mere thought of having a loss on their record. It's just that, in their mind, no one seems to pose a danger for their record. Froch is just not confident that he will beat Bute and believes he has a big chance of getting another loss.
