It's an old saying but 'styles make fights' fella.

Look at what Ali did to Foreman, look at what Foreman did to Frazier then look at the hell Frazier gave Ali in their trilogy. It's not as simple as "He beat the guy who beat him, so he can beat him"

It's debatable whether he 'outbrawled' Froch. It was a toss-up really. And Kessler still took a good 4 rounds off of Calzaghe. If Froch boxed the disciplined fight he did against Abraham against Kessler he won have won, that I have no doubt.

Who cares anyway? Stylistically, Kessler matches up better with Froch than Calzaghe, so Calzaghe should have always won more comfortably. I'm willing to bet that the Froch from the Abraham fight doesn't lose 4 rounds to Sakio Bika like Calzaghe did.

Styles makes fights. Calzaghe had many styles. Which is why he's known as a master adjuster.

There's the difference. He can fight inside, outside, middle-range, whatever.

And to that point, the Kessler that Froch fought was nowhere near the Kessler that Calzaghe fought.

And no, Sakio Bika threw punches. Abraham doesn't throw punches while the other guy is too busy. Sakio is also one dirty sumbeetch. Also, Abraham footwork is slower than Calzaghe's.

Froch only matched up well with Abraham because Abraham couldn't close the distance well. That's never going to be a problem with Calzaghe.

To add, Calzaghe is much faster than Froch in terms of slappy flurries. Hopkins has said this before.

It's much more difficult to time someone like Calzaghe's flurries than someone with fast handspeed that throws one shot at a time.

Froch can walk through those slaps, but Calzaghe wont walk through Froch's power.

    Froch TKO Calzaghe.

This is not prime for prime, its talking about circa Froch vs Taylor.

    Froch walks him down.

Bottom Line: Calzaghe didnt want it.

Yea man, put it on Humberto Soto to beat Antillon. Probably a UD IMO. Put some on Alvarez aswell I think. But Antillon vs Soto should be a decent match.

I been saying it since 2005, Froch would have been a decent match up for Calzaghe. Not neccessarily an easy fight for either. A prime calzaghe would have opted for a tare up, if it went the distance, Calzaghe UD, if it didnt Froch TKO.

would have been a good fight, neither was shy when it came to having a tare up and i genuinely couldn't see either knocking the other one out.

just a pity the timing was wrong. froch's calling out came when he was unproven and if calzaghe had faced froch instead of facing kessler and hopkins (when the froch fight was talked about) he would have been cruxified for doing what he had always been percieved to have done and fight unproven eurobums who no-one knew in the states. if calzaghe had of fought a green froch and ruined him, then people would have ranked that win alongside the likes of richie woodhall win imo.

in hindsight, its a shame cos froch could have turned out to have been one of calzaghes best fights and the way things have gone since then you can't help but respect carl froch and his determination to fight the best out there home and abroad. in hindsight he would have boosted calzaghes resume.
