but people never said that about calzaghe when he fought undefeated mark delaney in his backyard and got spat on by delaneys fans, sure it wasnt a world title fight, but still, if it was england it was still considered by many americans as "his backyard"
I intentionally didn't pick Duddy for that reason. But Magee fights under the UK flag. And of course he's not British. Britain is the island with England, Wales and Scotland on it. You've got to be ****ing joking about Mark Delaney. When discussing Calzaghe's status, who the hell cares about what he did against a crappy domestic level fighter? Beating Mario Veit in Germany is far more impressive, except that nobody's impressed by that either because Veit was mediocre.
That's because the UK is about the same size as the state of Oregon. It's not that hard to understand what the term "road warrior" means. You hit the road and end up in distant places. It's much more appropriate a nickname for Glen Johnson than Calzaghe, sorry.
I don't think that really factors into it. I thought Dirrell beat Froch easy but I also thought Froch beat Kessler. So it's a wash in my eyes.
Stop being pathetic. I wasnt having a dig at G Johnson, I was pointing out how he is called the road warrior yet has had more fights at home than so many others and how Froch in so few title fights has fought away almost as many times in less than half as many title fights. Why do you consider that a dig. It not
Veits so mediocre, that he has done more at SMW than Dirrell, or AA for that matter. Veit only ever lost to world champs or fighters who became world champs and was a world rated fighter. Veit holds wins over Mock, Perdermo (who challenged Kessler years later), Salem, Brewer and Braehmer who was undefeated and is now WBO LHW champ.
Except, as I noted a few posts ago, you are wrong. Johnson has only bee the 'home fighter' for two of his major fights.
Froch did lose to Kessler, so should be rated below Kessler at this time. One win over a former MW with no real SMW resume shouldnt put Froch above at this time. Kessler also is willing to fight anyone and travel. In fighting away, I would say Kessler has had a more stern test than Froch ie - Calzaghe away Mundine away Haussler away Ward away
America is America. It may well be a very big country, but it is alot different than being in a foreign country, and using your terminology alot of fighters are road warriors
Johnson won all 3 against Woods, jobbed, and most on the Boxrec British forum thought so at the time. You clearly havent seen the Branco fight, that was a robbery through and through. Many thought he deserved the Otke fight. Judah, Sheika outright robberies. The Gonzalez fight he deserved. Your right on probably not deserving the first Tarver fight though
