Froch just said it - Dirrell ran, Dirrell grabbed. He was totally negative - and deserved to lose. Aggression is counted in boxing scoring. The irony is that when Dirrell started fighting in the last couple of rounds it looked like he could have hurt Froch. Well said Carl - at least one guy came to fight.

Shocking decision. No way did Froch deserve the decision. And why do the UK commentry team have to ****in lie about it? Kessler is going to jab his face off.

Lol all you biased US fans. All I saw was Dirrell running all night and hugging all night and keep ducking his head low so only the back of his head is shown.

He is suppose to become champion by running? lmao. You guys are jokes.

Did he wanna fight or want to run?

Man **** you, how the hell do you win a fight with rabbit punching and dry humping. There's no way in hell Froch should have won. Dirrell hurt himn in the 10th and won the 11th and 12th when he was tired.

Lets see, 2 out of 3 judges, 2 out of three "respected" sports writers, the 3rd had it a draw. Yeah that was a robbery.

    :patsch:patsch

reading this round by round thread from start to finish (i didn't see the fight) it doesn't sound like a BS decision. Sounds like a close fight with alot of rounds that could have gone either way.

Sounds to me like it was an awful fight that Dirrell didnt do enough to become new champ and therefore didnt deserve to become new champ, the yanks frustration is probably coming from the fact that when Dirrell opened up in the last couple rounds he looked good and had he done this in the first 9-10 rds he probably would have done enough to win.

but he didnt, thems the breaks.

Those writer's are dumbasses and you are a ****in ******. Most people on this site know Dirrell won. Even some of the Froch fans are saying Dirrell won. People are complaining about him running but honestly dude was making Froch look bad. You don't give points on ineffective aggression and that's what Froch brought to the fight.

    x = pick'em rounds

    Froch - Direll

    1. 10 - 10 X
    2. 10 - 9 X
    3. 9 - 10
    4. 9 - 10
    5. 9 - 10
    6. 10 - 9
    7. 10 - 9 X
    8. 9 - 10
    9 10 - 9
    10. 9 - 10
    11. 9 - 10
    12. 9 - 10 X

    113 - 116

    With point deduction: 113-115.

If I give all the 'pick'em' rounds to Froch that I didn't already give him, it would be 114-114.

And with the point deduction, it would be 114-113.

In rounds: 4-7-1 in favour of Direll.

    Changing the 'pick'em' rounds: 6-6.

The point deduction, while possibly merited, came without warning and overall, I feel was unnecessary.

Two judges scored it 7 - 5 for Froch and one scored it 7 - 5 for Direll.

Nearly all of the rounds were close, so 'robbery' and 'gift' are inapplicable here.

Direll was the much more skillful and faster fighter here, but he lacked sufficient aggressive output. Which is a pity, as he definitely had it in him to do better.

Defence counts, and Direll frequently made Froch look foolish, swinging at empty air.

But a minimum modicum of offence is needed to wrest away the title, especially if you're not laying any serious damage on the champion. And Direll failed to do enough to close the show.

I would have awarded the fight to Direll, but I'm not surprised at the decision.

Assumingt he can learn from his folly, I would put my money on Direll in a rematch.

I came on late here so I don't know if anyone mentioned how bias the ref was. Froch was fighting very dirty and got warnings. I was shocked when the ref stopped the action to take a point from Dirrell. Froch was hitting air throughout the fight, but Dirrell did not want to engage in the beginning. Title fights don't come around everyday for this kid, so he should have put it on him. Froch misses, for heaven's sake, make him pay.

I agree with the sentiment of this post.

    I had it 6-6.

However, I felt that Dirrell was a brilliant boy fighting a good man.

When Dirrell grows up (figuratively speaking) he will beat the man effortlessly imo. Perhaps he already grew up over the course of fight because he did fight superbly in rounds 11 and 12. Until then he mostly stunk out the joint, but 11 and 12 are worth building on for Dirrell. He answered a lot of questions, but lost because he is not a finished product, but in the making.
