And why he'd beat him down in a rematch...

That fight you lost to Kessler was incredibly close. Are you pushing for a rematch with him?
A rematch is something I’m definitely interested in but I don’t think he’d go the distance with me. There’s always a reason why you lose in boxing, there’s always an excuse. There’s nothing more boring than someone’s excuse of why they lost the fight, but I’m going to give you mine anyway. There was a volcanic ash cloud that kicked off in Iceland. My flight got cancelled eight days before the fight, on the Friday, and then cancelled again on the Saturday, the Sunday, Monday and the Tuesday. I was giving myself a week to go out to Denmark and acclimatise, get training, get used to the hotel and the food. While I was waiting my weight went up a little bit. By the Wednesday I thought the fight was off. Then the phone rang and they said they were sending a private jet on Wednesday afternoon and I had to get on it. I was thinking, ‘Bloody hell, you’re fighting!’ so I had to change my mindset. I thought, ‘Sod it, I’ll knock him out’. I flew out there late, two days before the fight, I was very tired and I ended up having a fight with Kessler for 12 rounds. It was a great fight, a toe-to-toe battle, a tournament. It could have gone either way. But I know for a fact that I wasn’t the full me. That was Kessler’s best and last attempt at fighting for a world title and he left it all in the ring. I was never going to win the fight on points. It was over in Denmark. All the judges were leaning towards Kessler as they do in boxing when it’s a home fight. When I fight Kessler again I’ll be in better shape because the chances of me being delayed by a volcanic ash cloud again are minimal.

Froch is a clearly better fighter than Kessler. I was pretty shocked when MK outfought him. In a rematch, I'd back Froch by stoppage or convincing UD.

The Volcanic ash cloud **** everyone up. Literally only knew the night before that we were going.

It must have been very difficult and tiring to have a flight so soon before a big world title fight and a long car journey and then have to do all of the media work plus get off some of the weight, right before the fight. Also If Froch thought the fight was cancelled as many thought it would be, his training would have suffered at the end.
This is the advantage to getting to fight at home, that if there is a problem like this, it doesnt become an issue

Tyson fought Etienne a week after he got a facial tattoo. He didn't complain.

if we're not counting the spinal thing.

He put up a good fight, kessler just edged him, and since it was in denmark he was never going to get a close decision like vs direll.
It doesnt matter though, froch only needs to beat johnson then ward then he is king.

I think Froch showed he's a better fighter despite losing. He didn't look his usual fit self but when he was active, it looked fairly easy for him. Great fight though so hopefully we see a rematch.

The only problem is, Froch has repeated that excuse in media since that fight. And having proved he was the "better fighter", no.. the better boxer on the night, arguably, probably. I had him outjabbing Kessler, but Kessler was a cyclops fighting on pure heart and will, and proved HE WAS THE BETTER FIGHTER on the night.

I like Froch, but he knew, as did most of us.. Kessler deserved the win.

Kessler was always pressing the action, forcing Froch to fight on the back foot. Froch clearly lost the fight.
