It will only be meaningless if Bute gets stopped again. If it goes 12 or if Bute wins, suddenly, it will have proven meaningful.

Sad but probably not going to happen. Sad because Bute was holding MTL boxing popularity in his hands. We can already see the popularity of boxing in eastern canada in decline since Bute loss. With Pascal in his prime doing nothing and Stevenson who have no charisma, fans don't have anything to be excited about.

At least, here in Ontario we still have ''super'' steve Molitor........:dead

    170 is catch-weight last time I checked. 175 is a proper LHW.

The only reason the fight is at a catch weight it's for them to fight a 12 rounds for Grachev belt.

No, but he could had. And would've been good money-wise, the dude tried to give something big to his fans, he wasn't going to stop with Froch, Kessler or Ward he wanted them all, Pascal for his Canadian fans left for later.
Anyway do your remember that this was first tried to be sold as a two fight deal to Showtime? They somehow put that contract in order for the same thing.

Come on mate. You know what I mean.
Wlad v Wach will be meaningful if Wach pulls it off.You know I meant box office appeal before the fight takes place.
That's like saying Price-Skelton is a good fight but only if Skelton wins.
But it is meaningful to us fans,I'll give you that.Good tune-up for the Cobra.:yep:hey

Whether or not Froch has the belt, a rematch with Bute will be very lucrative. The winner can go after the strap after they get done counting their money.

Besides, everybody knows that Ward is the true champ at 168 anyway. Bute/Froch is about having two well known fighters engage in a home-and-home contest, not to decide who the 168 pound champ is.

He owed you guys a big fight with a big name to prove there was substance behind the hype.I don't disagree with everything you're saying but I have to call you on your assertion that going over to fight Froch was some sort of sporting gesture.
And many fans would have questioned him if he had just kept the status quo,but I suspect many(and you might have been one:hey) would have still defended him if he'd done that.
The three you mentioned before Pascal would all beat him.Think you know that now.Might have a chance with Kessler fading, but I'd have to see how he does at 175 before I call Pascal.
Still think he needs extra weight in his legs to stiffen his resistance so might benefit him.

Bute came to Nottingham because he was convinced he could beat Froch, his fans obviously thought the same,it's that simple.
In the weeks/months preceding the fight ESB was full of Froch/Bute threads, the basic content of every thread was the Canadians/Romanians telling us how much better Bute was than Froch, how he'd outbox him before unleashing the liver punch and stopping him. Most true boxing fans knew that Froch was levels above Bute, and highlighted Butes questionable chin, questionable heart, and questionable resume, but Butes ESB followers knew better.
After the one sided demolition, most of these people vanished from the site, only one or two came back to eat crow and admit they were wrong. Now here we are months down the line, and hey presto, after licking there wounds, and massaging each others ego's,these clowns are back prophesizing the second coming of Bute.
No version of Bute will ever beat Froch, the venue/location won't matter, the outcome will be the same.Froch didn't just beat Bute,he took his soul.
Bute can still make a good living, and its obvious from some of the post's,that some still buy into the bull****.He can fight the sort of fighters he has always feasted on,say the Froch fight was an "off night",and his fans will think he's a world beater again,or he can go through with the Froch rematch, and have his ice pedestal melt again, probably permanently.
Froch is in a win win situation,he can beat Bute again and get a big pay cheque,or he can look for other big fights. At this point in his career,i'm sure dollars mean more to Froch than belts.

Hey, if that's the best he got I wanna see it. I don't believe I saw it yet. I don't care if he'll lose giving his best against Froch as long as he tries and aims to become great. So if he fights Froch in Montreal and lose the same way or worst It's okey with me. The men have tried, but couldn't reach it... same way as Diaconu. But I don't think I saw his best.

I don't know what you meant by him keeping the status quo.

If you're a Bute fan, why on Earth wouls you want to see him get badly hurt again?

Bute gave Froch a shot at the belt, and Froch gave Bute a chance at proving he was what his deluded nuthuggers thought he was.

For his own safety, Bute should be kept away from Carl.

Bute is good for boxing, even if he isn't elite. He is exciting in the ring, he is vulnerable too (drama!!), he can close the show with one punch, he fights the best he can, and he rematches those who beat him/take him to the wire. What more can you want?

Yeah, a lot of casual fans have left the train, but I'm sure that Bute is also partly responsible for the fact that boxing has found many new fans in Montreal/Quebec. :good

wat? You don't think the rematch will sell in Montreal? lol

I think you are exaggerating. I can't understand why, but there is frustration and a bit of enmity in your post. :conf

For their own safety, boxers should never box.

For his own sanity, for his self-respect, for the sacrifices he's made since he started training and fighting, and for his fans, Bute should have another crack at Froch.

For the neutral fans, it should be a good fight too. Especially if you like KOs, no?

Like Bernard Hopkins said, if someone gets beat up convincingly and knocked the **** out, there's no point in an immediate rematch.
