I go on eastside a LOT. every evening pritty much i scan through most threads see whats new. And i noticed that there was NOT a lot of respect and praise for Carl Froch. LIke, AT ALL. This is after the direll fight. However after the kessler defeat, i am shocked to see how many threads are out there about froch being robbed!!! I didnt think for one second froch won the fight.i had is 115-113 kessler but i really didnt think a lot of people would go to the extent of thinking froch was ROBBED. Anyways my point is it seems froch has gotten a lot more respect and recognition here on ESB since his defeat. There seems to be a lot of pro-froch threads going around, wheras before the kessler fight there were next to none! this might just be me but i find that quite amusing. Having said that my respect for froch has deffinetly increased. Superb fight and heart shown by both fighters :good
Well I think Froch lost the Dirrell fight but won the Kessler fight. He was really on his game against Kessler, taking advantage of his long reach for maybe the first time ever, jabbing, setting up nice combos, even showing improved defense. I think it was the best performance of his career, made even more impressive by the fact that Kessler was fighting well and with a lot of determination.
I think I may be one of those people you're referring too. I’ve always held a negative view of Froch (still do to an extent), regarding him as a fighter with very little skill. However watching him on Saturday night, I noticed he kind of exceeded my expectations. He boxed far better than he did against Taylor and Dirrell, and in my opinion let the fight slip from his hands. However I am aware of the fact that he was fighting a guy that was equally as robotic and sluggish as him, and that once he crosses paths with Ward (or Dirrell again), we’ll be reminded once again of his deficiencies. But yeah, despite rooting for Kessler on the night (and rubbing my hands together in the prospect of a Froch defeat), I can honestly say that Froch has nothing to be ashamed of. His loss was a long time coming (considering how poor his past 2 fights were), and he’s done well to come this far in the first place. But good luck with the rest of the tournament Carl, because you’re gonna need it that’s for sure
Like many i thought Froch would win the fight. While i hadnt written Kessler off after his defeat against Ward, i thought he would be a little mentally scarred and nervous. But on the night he showed none of these. I thought he won the fight by at least a round, maybe 2, but i have no idea what the judge that gave it to Kessler by 6 rounds (might be 7 cant remember off the top of my head) was watching. I fink this will be a genuine FOTY candidate, although not many boxing skills were on show. I cant wait for the Froch vs AA fight now. I think it might even outdo Kessler Froch as the Brit really has to go all out in this 1. Good fight, shame about the result as im English. But the better fighter won
Yes he did gain alot of respect as a fighter IMO. He looked like he trained for speed and was faster than I've ever seen him in the first 6 rounds. He looked better technically also. Fighting as a counter puncher. I think the kessler body attack from round 2 on took some of that speed away as everyone saw froch slowed down from the 8th through the 10th before getting his 3rd wind for the championship rounds making them a coin flip. A fighter shows his true colors in defeat. I always felt that froch just says whatever to his fans and doesn't believe half the stuff he says. I felt he said it just for promotion of himself. In defeat he showed himself to be a class act and I agree with what froch said after the fight. I had it 7-5 for kessler. I could have understood a draw or a 7-5 victory for froch. Great fight. 8-4 and 9-3 by those belgium judges was a flat out disgrace. Before the fight I said Kessler would win (I was wrong about KO) and then froch would come back and KO arthur abraham. I'm sticking to it and expect froch to bust abraham up. If the fight is in germany I wouldn't take it if I were froch. He felt good getting the gift against dirrell and now he sees the other side and took the close loss with humility and honor. I know I'm the main one to **** on froch but I must say that the way he conducted himself during and after the fight has made me a fan of his. I expect that he will be his true self from here on out. I would like to see carl froch and arthur abraham fight in the US for thier next fight at MSG or Southern California. This hometown fighter **** should end after the 2nd round. This is the super six world boxing classic and the true champion should need no homefield advantage.
