The negotiations that were in process to make a super middleweight bout happen between the former IBF champion Carl Froch and middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin have cooled off. GGG’s promoter Tom Loeffler from K2 Promotions had confirmed the news that Froch hasn’t finalized his next opponent yet.

“Eddie says that Froch hasn’t decided yet if he is going to fight or not, so I am checking all other options to see what the best one for GGG is. Hopefully, we should have something more firm in the next couple of weeks.”

The 37-year-old Froch, who holds 33-2 record with 24 KOs, is away from the ring since 13 months after his knockout blow against George Groves at Wembley Stadium. He has since vacated his IBF title and is planning for retirement.

I'd imagine Froch got a kick from all the praise he got for 'considering' this fight at this stage of his career. If he doesn't try to make the fight now we know GGG is game he won't be able to laugh off his previous comments about him as a joke though.

He will have consciously decided not to fight him.

I would love to see it but there is no point in it the only fight I think he should take if he fights on is ward avenge the loss retire avenging his only two loses perfect way to retire

I think coming back after a 13 month layout to fight a consistently active performer who also is a knockout boxer puncher would be a tough task for anybody let alone Carl Froch.

I think his decision to come back for one more fight against Golovkin perhaps hasn't been fully thought through yet.

I think he'd need one or two tune up fights before he faces Golovkin. And if he looked good then i would like to see him in the ring with him.

I think it would be a bad decision for him to step in the ring with Golovkin next albeit maybe not from a financial standpoint.

i dont see the fight happening which is a real shame , it would be a brutal fight for however long it lasts , someone is going to get knocked out in a total war . i think carl will retire , this really could have been the REAL fight of the century , not that 12 round bore fest in the middle of the nevada desert last month !!

Carl Froch was just being an attention seeker. He cannot handle be an irrelevance, which he now is.

I can't see froch taking this fight I think froch has had the good sense to decide it's obviously a fight he can't win . I do think froch will have trouble letting the limelight go I think he will end up in the jungle next year

I doubt Froch really fancied a war with Golovkin - with his style and lack of defence & time of out the ring even if he somehow managed to beat that monster he would have to take a brutal battering from GGG. Hes loaded got a fit bird, nice family and his last fight was a KO win-why bother fighting its crazy.
