Jim Watt's a legend. I would rather listen to a guy like Jim Watt who Won a proper world title back in the day than most.
I love Jim but you might be right about that. Admit it, you love his catchphrases. We all do. Having Paulie on board too should be great.
If Halling is commentating on this, then I am putting that **** on mute and using Radio 5 Live for the commentary. This fight needs a big name commentator like Darke.
I'd like them to go with the American style of 3 commentators. The usual 2 of Nick Halling and Jim Watt (who I actually enjoy listening to) and then add Paulie for the insight.
Jim Watt is one of the worst commentators I've ever heard in any sport, he's ****ing terrible. I watched the first fight back earlier and no doubt about it Groves performed excellently but Jim Watt had decided from the first 30 seconds that all he was going to do for the entire fight was cream himself over Groves and give Froch zero credit for anything he did.
Its so hard to watch back because of the comm. There is one bit where they are clinching and Groves hits Froch in the back of the head and Froch retaliates and Watt bangs on about how a point shoulda been taken from Forch, even in the replay where it shows Groves throwing the first illegal shot Watt still says Froch shoulda had a point taken.
The reason for this was because the ref called to stop boxing before Froch retaliated. I don't think that was a poor call but Watt did seem to ignore the fouls Groves committed, mostly with the head.
I distinctly remember him calling these great shots George had threw , and he had'nt thrown a punch , i think he watches it on a screen in delayed telecast ,
