They low balled him early before the relay h was ordered if he accepted they didn't have to pay him As much
15% is too low but 25% is the norm for a title challenger. 25% of what the rematch will make is massive. He would of taken 25 so they must of offerd only 15 id imangine.
The IBF agreed, and said in a statement: "The panel determined that the referee gave appropriate warnings to both fighters but did not choose to deduct points. "The panel felt that in the ninth round, Groves should have been allowed to continue as he did not appear to be seriously hurt - and was counter-punching and attempting to move the action away from the ropes at the time of the stoppage. "In addition, the referee waved off the fight from behind Groves instead of in front of him and did not look into his eyes. Groves showed no signs of being hurt after the stoppage. In sum, the panel felt it was an improper stoppage." IBF Championships chairman Lindsey E Tucker said Froch had 90 days to fight again and that if he failed to do so, he would "probably" lose his IBF title.
I thought I read earlier today on fightnews that Chavez Jr is already comitted to a fight in april ?? Which would mean that Froch would have to wait till summer for him..he can do Groves II and then if he comes through that have Chavez in summer or retire on his loss to Groves.
The IBF has ordered a rematch, must be signed within 90 days. Yes, Froch appears to be afraid to fight Groves again. IBF said the referee was incompetent.................
I hate to say it but Froch doesn't seem to want the rematch. He says he will fight Groves "Provided it's realistic" which is basically his way of passing the blame when the fight doesn't happen.
If there was a seven figure amount offered then the fight must be close to being made. Reports say Froch and Kessler split £4-5 million purse between them which was Froch's biggest fight in terms of cash to date so if £1 million+ was offered then that's around what a 25% split would be worth. Groves is either trying to squeeze out a few hundred thousand more or believes the fight is bigger than Froch/Kessler and may risk it going to purse bids.
Looks like a rematch might happen. Here are some links confirming that both teams are set to talk but nothing finalized yet. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/carl-froch-george-groves-rematch-3086944#.UujliLRfqUk (Unreliable of course) http://www.itv.com/news/london/upda...-stadium-could-host-groves-and-froch-rematch/ http://www1.skysports.com/boxing/ne...t-defend-against-george-groves-within-90-days (This could be a solid reason why they are negotiating) Really hoping this will happen. So far 2014 looks to offer a lot of solid fights.
