In the unlikely event that Carl has it within him to risk the rematch, I have a feeling that we'll see a pretty dramatic end to his tenure as champion. To me, this looked like exactly the sort of struggle that precedes a giant fall.

Froch surely can't keep relying on his chin, punch resistance is one of the first things that goes when you get older, ask Roy Jones. It could even catch up with old iron chin himself.
That was a very ageing fight for a 36 year old. I can see Froch taking a voluntary defense against an easier opponent & saying it'll be the Groves re-match after...& then he'll say that injuries have caught up with him & he'll retire. I can't see him wanting any more of Geroge Groves after that. He took alot more punishment than Groves.

I don't see any reason to think he has the balls or heart for a Groves rematch. I just cannot see it after his recent antics. I'm really disappointed in Froch, whose ego has ballooned astronomically (and it was never small!) after edging out Kessler.

Prove me wrong and I'll be full of credit.

Yeah, I regret questioning his heart; he's just seemed 'off' of late, nastiness rather than the usual bravado. I'll question it if he fights on without rematching Groves, but like you I'll be happy to see him retire. A) He's earned it and B) I would rather recall Carl Froch as a granite chinned warrior and not a churlish *****.
