Good call from Carl. I think he has has a good career and still has his senses. He's not slurring his words or anything. He is proud of what he has achieved and he was mentioning something about Wembley stadium as his greatest highlight.
Cynic in me thinks this has been announced too coincidentally on the day the lee Saunders press conference happens...
No surprise. He's had 4 easy fights in a row, 3 of them mandatories and 1 vs a shot Kessler. Had a chance to fight a live opponent in GGG and bottled it.
Had a top career, made his money and got out with his faculties intact. Had a few injuries recently and at 38 father time has made the decision straightforward.
No chance won't have came into his thoughts, put it this way Eddie Hearn is due to plug the life out of his biggest non ppv bill of the year in next few days before it takes place and Carl has stolen the limelight.
Good decision. He can't beat Ward, a GGG fight whether he won or lost would been a brutal fight he didn't need, Degale would have been awkward as hell for him..it's an all round good call and I wish him all the best
