PR disaster this interview, given the mood of the country.

If froch doesn't rematch groves his entire legacy will be tarnished. It's not like lennox retiring after vitali (legitimate tko in a close fight) froch was getting schooled and badly hurt until being given an absolute gift of a stoppage. He has to rematch groves or he will lose all the respect he's worked to earn.

He should have signed for the rematch the next day! He did look a bit tentative but after that first round I think he realised how massively he underestimated Groves, and nearly paid for it with his titles.

Think he'd still win the rematch with Groves but Ward would slaughter him.....again. Waste of time.

I think Hearn will have his hands full trying to match Froch up with anyone but Groves in his next fight. The public just won't accept it.

    That interview was cringeworthy.

Yep it's opening the negotiations bull.If he is looking to fill Wembley and fill his boots with ppv money what's he going to say......George and I are now officially engaged....he beat the **** out of me I'm scared....there is no point in coming to a rematch,George will win and Rob probably won't be able to get me in the ring I'll be so frightened. This event needs a pantomime villain and he knows every Froch hating bum on a seat puts money in his pocket! For the amount of money he can make from this I would bad mouth(and probably sell) my sainted old granny!:yep

To be fair to Ward it probably makes more sense for him to fight Groves than it does Froch if he doesn't step up permanently.

Where on earth do you start with that?

I almost can't be bothered, but here we go:

Joe Calzaghe was the WBC title holder. Carl Froch was the WBC mandatory. Joe Calzaghe VACATED AND MOVED TO LHW to give him some 'legacy defining fights' in his own words. Why someone can get to 44-0 and not have secured their legacy is a fact which we shall gloss over for a minute.

Carl Froch fought Jean Pascal for the VACANT WBC title. He then DEFENDED against Jermain Taylor.

Froch always wanted the Calzaghe fight, and Calzaghe - for whatever reason - didn't want to fight him. So Enzo can shut his annoying little moustachioed Taffy pie hole for a start and go back to annoying people on betting adverts. He has no moral high ground to take whatsoever, and neither does Joe.

Froch maintained he would never duck a fight a against a British mandatory challenger. It turns out from McCracken's words that he literally did this against everyone's better judgement and he deserves credit for that. He could EASILY have given the same excuse as Calzaghe did and said 'Groves isn't big enough name to fight me, I'm vacating my titles, going after Ward for the rematch at whatever cost because I only have one fight left and it means more to me than titles'. If he'd said that, how many of the 'Titles are all alphabet trinkets' brigade would have let that go? Not many, I'll wager.

So yeah, he DID Groves his chance, and guess what? The result was TKO 9.

Now, Ward can also shut his f*cking face, because I believe when HE used the excuse 'Why do I need to rematch Froch, I already beat him?' EVERYONE says, 'oh yeah, fair enough, he did - weren't the scorecards utter shite?'

Forgive me, but isn't TKO 9 slightly more emphatic than 115-113 on 2 scorecards?

To an extent I'm playing devil's advocate on certain points, especially as I'd rather the fight hadn't been stopped when it was on Saturday, but people need to stop with these ridiculous double standards.

I'm no apologist for Froch, have always supported him.....but I think it's Groves time now.But remember what Ali used to say to sell fights.....and he was probably a much nicer person than Froch. My main issue here is why would you taking anything these lads take seriously, especially when there is spectacular money to be made:bbb

If I was Froch here's what I'd be saying :

I've been in with the best in the division ,George gave me tougher test than most. He deserves to be up there after his performance on Saturday. I feel like I would have stopped him but understand why he and the public are Disapointed with the finish. I'm Disapointed too. If George and the public want a rematch to finish this once and for all then let's get it on.

If he had said anything like this , I think he may have gained a small bit of the respect back that he lost from me and a lot of boxing fans.
