I brought up the veterans he dominated, and I was clearly referring to the super six tournament, and you went on to say they were b class, but didnt think you were referring to his super six resume, which consisted of veterans. it was a misunderstanding, relax. either way I think you're slighting ward.

Froch will always have a tough time with Ward...when he was trying to box him on the outside, his jab fell short again and again, and that was the beginning of the end in itself. The jab is the key shot that sets everything up, and when you can't land that then you know you're in for a long night. Ward was always one step away, just out of range, and when Froch's jab would fall short Ward would come right back with his own jab, and his speed and sense of distance meant that he would connect. When he did come up close, he would completely close the distance and get into clinching range, where Froch's long arms become less useful. Froch's best distance seems to be middle range, where he unloads powerful combinations, but Ward refused to stay there. He was always moving away or smothering Froch.

Froch also had no answer for Ward's left-hook -- if he could have found a way to deal with it then he would have stood a greater chance. That left-hook was catching him during the infighting, and also hitting him from range -- it was Ward's most effective weapon. The only time Ward began to look a bit ragged and less dominant was in the last two rounds -- he seemed to be a little tired, and Froch was being more aggressive.

If they fought again, I think Froch would have to work on a few key things. He needs to shorten up his punches on the inside, using something like the uppercut as a key weapon for when Ward tries to smother and fight him up close. Also, make sure to always keep the right glove up, because Ward likes to use a Mayweather trick of suddenly popping out of the clinch and firing a quick shot to surprise the opponent. In Ward's case it's that short left-hook. He also needs to be ready to parry that hook when they're boxing from range. Aside from that, he needs to be more aggressive against Ward, but to pressure intelligently rather than just jumping in. (A good recent example of intelligent aggressive fighting was Cotto during some parts of the Mayweather fight.) More bodyshots would also be useful.

On the whole, I can't see him beating Ward, though -- Ward seems like a more complete, skilled fighter. It would be great if he pulled it off, though.

    Outboxer is spot-on.

The only possible chance Froch would have in a rematch would be if he could cut-off the ring, and bully Ward inside WITHOUT getting hit with those hooks.

I'd love to see it, but I don't see it.

Ward made it a bad night for you but whatever. Boxers have a complex. They have to believe when they lose it was because they had an off night. We should be used to this by now.

I like Froch, and knocking out Bute was awesome, but Ward already soned him and there's no need for them to fight again.

:good It's not like there's any shame in losing to Ward anyhow...Ward is a fantastic fighter himself. Avenging the Kessler loss would be more worthwhile. Plus more entertaining...their first was a great fight.

Really, Kessler is the one who shouldn't take that fight...He actually outslugged Froch, went down to the well and pulled out that win with a lot of grit and toughness I didn't know he had...but Froch is just too big, too strong...if he rematched, I doubt Kessler has enough left to pull it out again. Keep that win and move on, if I'm Kessler...

If traveling is so important and actually means something to the outcome of the fight, then why do so many Brits hold Froch in such high regard? Every one of his big wins came within the confines of Nottingham. The only possible exception would be the Taylor fight. Of course, Taylor was on the slide and still was up comfortably on Froch going into the 12th round. Froch lost to Ward fair and square. Ward is the superior fighter. Froch is still a good fighter himself, and there is nothing wrong with him being number 2.

The Duran stuff again. Had Duran been in shape for Leonard 2, Benitez,Hearns he would have beaten all of them. But for some reason he did not train for any of the best fighters he ever fought. Just excuses. I loved Froch's win over Bute, and I predicted it, but he would not beat Ward in a rematch. Styles make fights.

The gap between Ward and Froch is about as long as the one between Froch and Bute. Froch should steer clear of Ward if he knows what's good for him. Saying that though, watching Ward fight is tantamount to applying a catheter to a patient.

Pep-Sadler, Greb-Tunney. Both examples of guys who were at a style disadvantage, got beat (Pep got knocked out in 4, Tunney took a horrific beating that'd be called career-ending if it happened today) the first time around, then won later in the series. Both of those guys took worse losses than Froch did against Ward that night and came back from it to win.

It's not unprecedented, and if Froch beats Kessler in the rematch, he deserves the chance to redeem himself.

Misunderstanding it was. and yes i am slighting him for seeking the home adavantage over all the other fighters and the fact that he may fight chad at 168lb, a weight that he is supposedly done at.

2 of his wins came in Nottingham. ward is the superior boxer but still sort and unfair advantage over the other fighters in the s6. You say it didn't matter and in hindsight it probably didn't but Wards team obviously did think it would matter:deal

he's definitely not done at 168 because he outgrew the weight class. andre ward is a fully grown man, and not to mention a tremendous, supremely dedicated worker in the gym. He can make 168 and honor his championship obligations without a doubt, and let us not forget, chad dawson called HIM out, not the tother way around, and made it clear that he could easily make 168.

Carl Froch as usual going too far after a solid win. "greatest british fighter blah blah blah". Every time he is about to win me over with his achievements in the ring he goes and makes a series of ridiculous statements about himself in regards to other fighters. He's a spectacular over-achiever and for that should be congratulated. Fan friendly style, world class skills and fearless. Also deluded. Never been lineal. Will never be lineal, only started fighting live bodies in his 30's but since then has amassed a great resume mainly due to the super 6 though. His silly boasts put people off. There is your opinion and then there is some of the crap he comes out with.
