The first is more likley. But even more likey is that Froch's life has been dedicated for 12 weeks to going toe to toe with someone, and he has done it before and it was brutal, and he lost, and he has spent 5 hours doing press conferences and interviews....if that was you, you might also say something stupid. The comment was distasteful no doubt, but like I said in my first post, Froch has cate blanch from me for the dozens of great nights of boxing he has provided over the years. If he starts talking like this every fight I would be pissed of about it.
^ That was actually quite funny for Froch. Up there with his "When I hit him on the jaw section of the cranium..." comment.
Its a fair point. Maybe the anti Froch stuff thats crept up in here in the past few weeks is part of why I am defending Froch so much here. I don't think it was a calculated marketing ploy. Just a fighter thats under pressure and pumped up. I do think your comment about throwing it back in his face for the rest of his life was WAY WAY over the top though.
People do say daft things when they are stressed whilst others deal with it and it makes them stronger. If Froch isn't careful he's going to blow it before he gets in the ring....He's like a sweated up thoroughbred trying to get to the start and its going to **** him up if he isn't careful Maybe I did go over the top, but when you've seen a good kid and talent like Johnny Owen prostrate in the ring and fighting for his life then forgive me for being less than charitable about Frochs utterly ******ed comments
You're sticking up for someone who has said he wants to "kill this ****er"....a fellow consummate professional and a warrior. Two things Froch also claims to be. That is hardly professional! It is dis-gus-ting! Forget about people being anti-Froch the past few weeks. Nobody has said they want to see Carl dead. Jesus. Froch can only blame himself if he loses this fight in devastating fashion, some will say he has just signed the deal here. People will say psychologically Kessler has already won the battle. Kessler will remain quiet and do his talking in the ring. But I agree with what someone else said, they may have told him to add a bit of fuel to the fire. Stuff like this will get more people buying.
These comments are not well advised. It's just not wise to be attracting this kind of attention towards boxing at a time where it is rightly getting attention for good reasons, it serves no purpose. I'm sure Carl could express his intensity and desire to win this without resorting to these kinds of statements.
Do you honestly think thats the case? Not doubting But I wouldn't class this as bad publicity for the sport. Tyson, Haye v Chisora, Mallignaggi & Broner talking about that girl.....the list goes on.
Even if it wasn't the case, the comments are still immoral and therefore ill advised in my opinion. One reason they're pretty immoral beyond being implicity immoral is there should never be a situation in a boxing ring where fighter A has to choose to kill his opponent to get where he wants to be. Fighter A and B simply fight and we and they should hope there is no lasting damage. Occasionally there is and that is clearly regrettable to all involved, but its not something that is intended to get where the fighter wants to be, it simply happens. If there somehow was a situation where a choice was needed, I'd hope the fighter would not choose to kill his opponent just for sporting recognition or financial reward anyhow. When we begin to extrapolate the meaning of this statement as above it doesn't make any sense, the statement is irrational, needless and regrettable and I'm sure its something Froch will regret when he's not fuelled by tension and anticipation.
The pressure is getting to Froch in my opinion. "Over thinking everything, his mind is running at a Million miles per hour"... It will probably have no affect on his performance but..? Carl Froch is ready to fight now, tomorrow any-time! Kessler seem's extremely relaxed to me, pretty much the same way Evander Holyfield was relaxed and happy leading up to the Mike Tyson rematch.
Yep. Spot on. :good Froch unanimous decision - straddled by Kessler by K.O. Remember, the opinion you should follow should be your own, just consider this to be a second opinion from a complete stranger. Online. :deal
I'm a massive Froch fan but i don't like those comments at all. I think the fight will be brutal while it lasts. I pray and hope both men leave ring safe. After todays events i think the stupidity of these words are more emphasized.
"I gave him eye problems, I retired him" He near enough said that after his loss. Doesn't surprise me his saying this before the rematch
I thought they were mates Biggest problem would be if he did kill him, that wouldn't look good would it
