BOXING: SUPER SIX STAR TO HIT THE HEADLINES

Carl Froch can finally enter his training camp for the most important fight of his life.

Nottingham world champion Froch has had to sit and wait during months of frustration and confusion for a venue and a date for his WBC super-middleweight title fight against Danish idol Mikkel Kessler.

The fight will now take place in Herning, near the legendary Legoland in Denmark, on April 24.

The showdown with Kessler is also part of the second series of fights in the Super Six tournament.

Froch said: "I've proved I can go overseas to a fighter's back yard and pull off the big win. I know I will have to do it again against Kessler.

"He has all the advantages - he is at home, the crowd will be on his side and he knows defeat means the end of his Super Six dream.

"His biggest advantage will be the fact that he will not want to let any of his devoted fans down and I've seen up close and personal just how loud they can be.

"We went to a press conference in Copenhagen last year and I was amazed at the way he was treated - he was more like a Royal than a fighter. It was staggering."

So far in the Super Six, Froch's outpointed previously unbeaten American Andre Dirrell, Kessler lost on a cut late in the fight to 2004 Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward and the new favourite to win, Arthur Abraham, knocked out Jermain Taylor.

Froch, unbeaten in 26 fights, added: "All of the three opening fights were special for one or other reason - I was not happy with the way that I boxed, but I beat a good fighter and Kessler was the massive favourite, but lost.

"That defeat makes this fight even better because Kessler is an old-school warrior and he wants to win the Super Six and not take an early bath - it's my job now to make sure that he gets beat again.

"There will be 10,000 in Herning and I know that it will be a hostile place, but I have to make sure that I take a lot of my supporters with me."

However, there were reports that the fight would take place on April 14 in Copenhagen and also the suggestion that some of Froch's travelling army of fans had bought flights for the Danish capital.

Froch admitted: "I just hope that not too many people have arranged to travel to the wrong place at the wrong time and I apologise for the confusion.

"I can guarantee that every British fan that makes the journey will get value because this will be a great fight and a great British victory."

Kessler is an over-rated hype job... he'll lose to every half decent world class fighter he faces in their prime. Froch nicks it. Dirrell would have toyed with him like Ward.

He can be outboxed and will maybe lose to a fighter with a far higher skillset than him.

Froch doesn't fall into this category and I've seen little chin ks in his supposed granite chin which makes me think that Kessler will knock Carl out.

Kessler has fought 1 world class fighter and he got beat. He also lost to Calzaghe which is a real worry.

This is going to be some fight, really looking forward to this. Kessler is going to be going all out for the win from the get go, and Froch isn't going to back down.

The Super 6 is starting to heat up, this should be the round where it ignites

I agree. Froch ain't the best in the super six, but he's far more adaptable than he's given credit for. And we've seen a couple of times now that simply changing tactics is enough to confuse and defeat Kessler.

I think he might even stop Kessler, and I'm not saying that makes Froch better than Calzaghe or Ward, cos he ain't. He's just got more of a dig and under-rated accuracy (if the opponent isn't moving around like a crazed spaniel).

What other tactics can Froch deploy? If anything I believe Kessler is more likely to change his tactics and confuse Froch.

Froch has little boxing ability, horrible defence, poor movement....he can only win if another fighter is willing to stand and trade.

Funny how he keeps winning then, with his last three wins against Pascal,Taylor(away from home) and Dirrell, two of whom were undefeated

I really think we should get behind Carl and show him some support.Okay so he has faults and can sometimes be a super twat, but the kids got game, you don't see him as a runner when he gets under them ropes he's come to get'cha none of that showboating shim/shaming ducking and ****ing about.I ain't saying he's another Rocky but he led with his face and every fight he went into experts said he would get mullerd. No this kids good because he wants to win and he'll die trying. He'll blitz Kess no problem.....
