Froch: I'm not happy about Ward working with Conte

It should be seen as a reasonable request even without the Conte connection. Boxing needs to catch-up.

 

I don't think that Ward is cheating for one minute, but I'm not sure why any athlete would want to associate themselves with Conte.

For all they know they might be getting something illegal without even knowing about it.

Realistically he ought to have been banned for life from working with anyone in sport, though that's obviously hard to police.

 

I'm all for cleaning up the sport, but I'm sorry Froch just sounds as bad as Mayweather here.... Just get on with it Frochy!

 

Does he ****!, any smart person would stay away from people like conte because it's sure to bring you bad attention. There are plenty of people out there who can do his job so why choose him. Froch has every right to be skeptical, he gets in the ring and puts his life on the line.

 

To be honest I'm surprised this wasn't raised for Ward's last few fights. Just silly getting involved with a guy that carries that rep and whether he has or hasn't taken anything and was or wasn't aware of it, there will always be that question mark

Does anyone else have a thought that he's got his own disputes with Shaw, like Bradley? It was a gentle tap to the head, hardly a full blooded shot.... not the sort that should keep him out for 18 months.

The Barrera/Marquez one was just as bad, if not worse.

 

With the fight signed and sealed, and it already being an established fact that Ward works with ****, I doubt Froch is being entirely serious with these requests. He's just talking **** before the fight. That's all.

Not that he has to prove anything, but I'm sure Ward wouldn't mind complying if he wanted to. He's actually said on plenty of occassions in the past that he's all for random testing.

 

Remember the drug test after the Abraham fight........oh that's right there was no drug test.

 

i may be wrong, but this is the first time ive heard carl froch talk about the andre ward/ victor conte connection.
obviously this is gonna mess with his head a bit, i mean, it would bother anyone, knowing your opponent is/was working with victor conte, wheather things are legal or not.

 

I just don't like boxers making starting to make excuses the way Mayweather does on Pacquiao.

Okay this is different but I highly doubt Ward would do something like this and would have him unless he fully trusts him. It's quite unsporting to say something like that, I'm pretty sure there are certain drug tests in place already for fights.

 

The difference is, Conte is a criminal, a cheat, someone who lied about his own products to his customers and has made many brash statements about how easy it would be beat the testing in boxing. Ariza is just a good conditioning coach, with a spotless record, who has been helped even more by working with a truly great fighter.

Huge difference there.

As much as I like Donaire, I hate the fact he works with Conte, as should every other fan. The question I ask myself is "What is Conte doing to make it worth boxers risking their reputations?". I think there's a huge doubt as to whether it's legal or not.

.My point been is; Froch is suspicious and demands drug testing, much like Mayweather is suspicious and he demands certain drug testing procedure (the merit of both arguments may differ): So does that mean if x fighter has a bit of suspicion of y fighter taking drugs then he has every right of demanding certain drug testing procedures?

 

Froch is trying to get inside Wards head. Not a bad play imo.
"Goody 2 Shoes" Andre acts like his **** would be a cure for leprosy so tarnishing him with a bit of a drug scandal won't do any harm.
