Well he is one of the biggest twats out there to be honest. Constantly crying about not recieving the attention he deserves, which to be fair he has got a point, whilst slagging off other popular fighters in the process. He's also pretty hypocritical. Moaning about a home-town decision loss to Kessler, when only months before he himself was gifted a decision in Nottingham. The only thing I think positively of him, is his approach to fights. In that regards he is to be commended. He'll never duck anyone. Mind you, he's never really been in a position to be able to duck a fighter. He always has been and always will be a chaser, not the chased.
Yeah he's confident (perhaps overconfident) when it comes to taking a challenge and believing in himself, but he is a sore loser and can't really accept when he's been bested as I see it. He's good at controlling his nerves and keeping composure, but that doesn't mean he isn't nervous. He is very relaxed and focused when he knows what he's dealing with, but faced with a slick guy like Dirrell he really lost control IMO, rabbit punching several times fx.
I think he's an average, stout-hearted, Nottingham lad who tries his best to play the Ali-Tyson trash-talking game (because it sells tickets and it appeals to the WWE-fan-types) and periodically fails at it because it isn't who he naturally is, but he doesn't want to be seen to be letting the promotion down by not trying, so he keeps going with it.
I've never seen anyones sense of humour get so hugely misinterpreted. I think he's genuinely funny but half the board interprets that as being overly cocky. I don't get that. He's just got a classic, dry British sense of humour which doesn't translate to many countries, especially America. He does overrate himself but which fighter doesn't? People moan about him saying he lost because of the home town judges in Denmark, then say he's a hypocrit for the Dirrell scoring, but very few fighters will admit they lost such a close fight. It's hardly new in boxing.
Would have been cooler for me had he quoted Dalton from Road House when being stitched without anesthia "pain don't hurt" :smoke
He really isn't. You must be blind if you think that. Doesn't seem to stop him once the bell rings though.
"My daddy didnt by me a motorbike till I was 13. We were poor" Boy I thought George Foreman had it tough when he mother had to feed 11 kids with 2 cheeseburgers in Houstons 5th ward, but goddamn, not having a motorbike until you were 13. Jesus. Cant even comprehend. :rofl
