You might be right on all your points. But I forgive Froch because he is a proven warrior, and has given us some of the best fights of the last few years. He really has fought great opposition recently: Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler and now Abraham :!:

Froch - Abraham should finally cover Froch in glory even if he loses like Holyfield in the 1st Bowe fight.

Can't argue with that :good. If more fighters were like him (in regards to taking on challenges), the sport would be much better off.

Can't find one, but I've heard his amateur trainer say it on more than one occasion. He said something along the lines of "He had all the skills in the world, but the only thing he lacked was a belief in himself". I know that doesn't sound like someone talking about Froch, but I'm positive.

I think this sums it up for me. A lot of people just don't get that British sense of humour. Half the time it is tongue firmly in cheek when talking about himself, also no one ever admits to losing in a close fight. Here's a thread that I started with some people's favourite Froch quotes...

I agree. There's just a slight, flippant turn to a lot of what he says. I don't think he intends all his quotes to be taken at face value. With regard to the Kessler fight, I think he was being a bit insincere when he said he might have been given the decision elsewhere. I got the impression he knew he had lost a close fight and was just rocking the boat a bit for the fans.

I also read an interview with him lately in which he said Andre Dirrell has the ability to beat anyone and only lacked belief....never thought I would hear those words from him!

I dont think he 'acts' hard all the time at all. He is an intelligent bloke, hes well educated and is successful both in and out of boxing. He has a bussiness degree and is also a property developer outside of boxing. So i dont think he feels a need to act hard at all, he IS hard!. He knows what he is capable of and hes a logical guy. So hes going to be quite confident isnt he!

Why do you think hes acting or insecure?

By the way i doubt his wife has anything to do with his personality, apparently they have only been together just over year anyway.

How can you not rate Froch? His interviews are pure comedy. His dry humour is unintentionally hilarious. I think the confidence is generally real. Iv not heard anything about lack of self confidence in his younger days either?

Carl Froch is an old school warrior who's never out of a fight. He has a great personality and is good for boxing. What's not to like?

If his self confidence is an act then its a bloody good act.

Because to me he comes across as a guy fully in control of himself and supremely confident being carl froch

    I see, thanks!

But watch the beginning of the British broadcast of his fight with Pascal (it's on youtube). In the first video they show a clip from a press conference where Pascal and F are staring each other down, and you can see how F can't hold the stare, and Pascal, and the guy doing the comentary (who's talking over the clip) call him on it.

Also you can clearly see in his hyper macho attitude an insecurity. If he was really confident he wouldn't feel the need to point out how he got stitched up without anesthesia and wouldn't have to lie that he had a tough growing up, and he wouldn't apologize to his girlfriend for losing.

That's interesting, though it could be him saying "I beat a great fighter.".

hes spent his career criticising calzaghe and as soon as hes given the fight of his life against the peaked version of Kessler who calzaghe schooled when he was 35 he shuts his mouth immediately i dont like froch 1 bit, he says all this **** about boxers standing in the ring and fighting the real way and complain when guys use there versitility and footwork because its the area of his game hes most weak at and its a cheap way of making the other man fight his fight.Hes critisised Ward for fighting boring but the dickhead really wishes he was as skilled as ward

I don't think you are intelligent enough to understand British humour. Maybe it's a cultural thing.

While it may be true (I don't know whether it is) that sometimes people don't realize when he's joking, in this case he wasn't joking.

I don't know if you've seen that interview, but he says he has had a tough growing up, and the interviewer presses him on how it was hard, Froch is caught off guard by this and starts scrambling and as he fumbles, trying to save the situation, he says some rediculous things like that quote.
