Froch/Johnson venue set

I might go to this. My uni exams finish on May 23rd.

 

Anyone been to Atlantic City, where would they recommend flying to ie. JFK, Newark, Philly etc? And then connections to AC?

 

If you're just going to ac then fly to philly and get the train thru amtrak website.

If philly flights are pricey fly to newark & get the bus return.

Did 3 nights in ac & that was enough. Outside of the boardwalk there's not much, but good for a lads weekend.

I have been there.I would say it seats about 2500-to 3,000 max.All seats are good though and it's very intimate.Nice bar set up in the lobby outside the ballroom.:good

 

I just don't understand why Sky wouldn't buy this fight and would buy a fight like Cintron/Williams.

 

I guess this is where Hennessey and Froch would come in for criticism. I'm sure Rob could quote us all the right numbers but they've both said in the past that they'll make more for fighting on Primetime ppv than sky would offer for a regular fight.

At £15 a pop, let's say the Froch camp gets half of that per ppv sold so that's about £8. Now even if say only 10,000 people order the primetime pay per view (again no idea what the actual figures will be, I'd like to think it'd be more than this). That's 80k that they'd make from TV viewing in this country. Do you really think Sky Sports would pay £80,000 for a 3am fight?

It won't be on Sky. Adam Smith would rather spend the money on more Adam Smith time. More episodes of Ringside and perhaps some more trips to America to interview some boxers.

Plus there's a bit of advertising revenue too.

The money will all go to them too, there's no undercard to pay for.

I'm sure there's a logical explanation to what they are doing, they're bound to be getting decent money from Showtime so any other money is just a bonus.

Not many fighters have several fights in a row from which they receive television revenue from more than one country, after all.

It's just a shame that Sky don't push the boat out to get him on their channel, when they pay good money to Olympians fighting no-hopers, world champions against opponents like Laryea and several crappy commonwealth title fights per year too.

 

Probably takes a bit of give and take from both sides really. Sure, Froch might make more from primetime than he would fighting on sky sports and he could beat Johnson, Ward and Bute all on primetime and but it wouldn't raise his profile to the casuals in the slightest. Sky can give him the platform to make him more known to casual fans, primetime can't.
