punch stats aren't very important. watch 1:14 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kehIfR4uZCo&feature=related[/ame]
Well there's your opinion and then there's the truth. I could look at evidence or listen to your clouded thoughts on the matter.
I just watched the first round and had Froch throwing 56 shots, 46 of which were jabs. Are you telling me he averaged 80 punches a round for the remaining 11 rounds? There is no way he averaged 80ppr, you must be counting the steps he took walking around the ring aswell :rofl
First round: 48 jabs, 11 power shots Second round: 77 jabs, 15 power shots Third round: 54 jabs, 25 power shots 4th: 60 jabs, 19 power shots 5th: 55 jabs, 26 power shots 6th: 49 jabs, 23 power shots 7th: 50 jabs, 26 power shots 8th: 47&21 9th:49&32 10th:47&33 11th:39&45 12th:30&60
Decent effort, I am not going to say its out of the realm of possibilities that you're spot on, as I have sat down and done a similar thing for James Toney vs. Samuel Peter I to prove James beat him, so I know what kind of work one has to put in. I have scored the fight twice now and can honestly say it was very close with Froch winning early rounds. Many rounds were close but I ended up with the same score both times, 115-113 for Kessler.
I won't ridicule anyone having Froch winning, but having Froch winning with more than 2pts is ridiculous. Besides, lots of the so called jabs Froch threw were his bow&arrow type of slapping/keeping distance jab. It's awkward, it looks bad and its far from effective, don't really know why he does it. :think
There's definitely something in your post, mate. There's no way that fight was a close but clear win for Kessler. I thought Froch made Kessler look average to poor for the most part. For someone "with no defence" he was slipping and avoiding an awful lot of Kessler's punches. Yes, Kessler kept coming foward but was very rarely landing clean. Also, Froch came out better in all almost all the toe to toe flurries. Kessler's aggression had the crowd going mental and that was surely influencing the judges (except for Tilleman who had his card finished by the end of the first). Also, I feel a lot of Brit's are influenced by John Rawlings' (he had it for Kessler) commentary on Primetime when looking back on the fight. He is always pessimistic as hell when it comes to British fighters. I believe he scored Hopkins v Calzaghe a draw. I can't for the life of me understand how some posters on here gave Kessler the explosive 12th round; he was getting battered and (albeit bravely) hanging on for the bell. Froch landed the harder, cleaner shots throughout the bout and deserved at least a draw.
Round by round connects (jabs are in brackets): Froch Kessler 1 10 (7) 4 (3) 2 10 (9) 6 (3) 3 8 (4) 10 (9) 4 13 (7) 6 (2) 5 13 (4) 14 (6) 6 12 (5) 11 (6) 7 8 (4) 12 (6) 8 7 (3) 12 (4) 9 13 (5) 7 (2) 10 11 (6) 14 (4) 11 25 (6) 13 (2) 12 25 (4) 17 (3)
My view entirely. I know people are probably bored of this by now but I wanted to throw some 'facts' out there (even though people might doubt my stats).
