Exactly. A very hungry Kessler, and Froch who perform his best and proved to be a much better boxer and will do very well in the fights to come.....
Add to that that even Froch knew he had lost - look at his reaction at the final bell (and his conners reaction) - they knew very well that they had lost.
Punchstats don't mean ****. If we were to rely on punchstats we wouldn't need judges to score a fight. But if these connect percentages are true, then they're pretty abysmal for both men.
Nobody's discussing the replacement of judges by punch stats. What the stats DO mean, besides "****", is that that it may be easier to shut up people who watch a fight like Froch vs. Kessler and still claim that Froch landed more punches. It's a basis for discussion, something to build on. Then everybody may be able to at least agree on something, and still discuss who had ring generalship, who landed the most significant punches, who was hurt, etc.
Lol. Look at Froch's girlfriend during the figth, at the end we did'nt need judges, just look at her face, she was almost crying. Froch lost and it was'nt even that close. :good Now you blind Froch nuthuggers feel free, kill me:hey loosers!
Counting punch stats is a very subjective affair as long as no clear scientific distinction between punch and non-punch is made. Having said that I take my hat of for Froch's performance. I'm quite convinced that Froch could have beaten Kessler by roughing Kessler up but he declined. Froch could have clinched after delivering his shots thus preventing Kessler from hitting back pretty much the same way Ward did. Instead Froch brought tough and clean fighting. I noticed father Sauerland immediately thanked Froch for the great show right after the fight!
Yup. I'll be honest, before the fight I didn't think Froch was much of a fighter. He was 14 seconds away from being beaten by a JT who was a shadow of his former self. His victory over Dirrell was tainted, and noone doubts how a rematch would go. I also didn't think much of Froch as a character. Too willing to **** on other fighters (not even those in his division) and think he is the man. Not a complete douchebag like Haye, but irritating. After the fight I was impressed. I thought he was much better than he had previously shown. He wasn't able to put his gameplan into action - Kessler forced the fight to go his own way - but the feeling was that if Froch was able to assert hmself that he could have done a lot better. I was also impressed that he fought really cleanly. None of Dirrell's bull**** theatrics, none of Ward's headbutts, none of Abraham's punching downed opponents - just good clean fighting. Heart, sportsmanship, stamina, and more skill than expected. Awesome. Sadly, I felt almost all of the goodwill Froch earned evaporate as soon as I hit these forums and read ****** after ****** bleat that he had been robbed. Making up stupid punch statistics or conspiracy theories about the judges. Froch must be really happy to have fans who make people dislike him!
I must say, stop embarrassing Kessler fans all over the board. It was a close fight, I had Kessler eeking out a 115-113 score, both times I scored the fight. Come on man. :-(
I applaud your time effort in compiling the stats. But Id be more inclined to take them at face value if you weren't out to prove Froch won the fight. Regardless, punch stats don't even begin tell the whole story.
I'll reiterate another poster. These are the real punchstats: http://boxrec.com/media/index.php?title=Fight:1476192 Punchstats Kessler - Total Thrown: 765, Total Connects: 147 (19%) Froch - Total Thrown: 546, Total Connects: 98 (18%)
