he hasn't taken the punches to the head that froch has against the guys froch has been in against, and he sure as hell can't take a body shot like froch. andrade has better defense? what masterclass has he ever put on? he has admitted to blocking punches with his face, literally.

froch has been in against slick boxers, jermain taylor was slick for about 10 and a half rounds, until froch caught up to him, and andre dirrell was slick, albeit negative in ther fight.

i've seen lucian bute worn down, and i've seen froch do it, skillfully at that. I've also seen him take the shots of very good fighters, like jean pascal the light heavyweight king, so his chin is teak tough.

I just don't see lucian bringing as much to the table as froch at this point in time.

 

Correct. Froch would be far to good, too tough,too seasoned at the highest level for the likes of Bute. Froch wouldn't get that much credit for beating Bute anyway, since people, quite rightly, would say that Bute hasn't yet beaten anyone of note, let alone beat them outside Quebec

Let's assume Froch beat a top 5 SMW in AA... would you honestly rate that win higher than Bute-Andrade II, considering both Froch & Bute were facing a top 5 SMW at the time?

 

The first time Bute fought Andrade, Andrade was #3 and in Andrade 2 he was #5. AA means zerrrro at 168.

Brinkley is irrelevant here... who should the IBF have given him to fight instead of him, considering all decent opponents were -and still are- caught up in the Super 6? Mandatories aside, don't even think about bringing Pascal or Dawson in the picture... Bute's at 168 for yrs to come, and neither LHW wants to go down to SMW - didn't see any catchweight talk though.

...you're still not disputing that Bute's KO of Andrade is a better win than Froch's UD over AA. Dropping a guy who was top 5 SMW at the time, that Prime Kessler wasn't able to KO, outweighs a domination over an AA who didn't want to take risks. :hi:
