the long and short of it is that the UK is a ****ing rip-off. and that includes the taxation.
all the stories that have come out recently and people are still naive and tolerant enough to accept getting bent over.
then you see that parasite Prince William, from a family of parasites, in the thick of it at the CL final last night, on another freebie at the expense of the taxpayer.

I live in a quality place and am capped at 16% tax. That covers the cost of some public services and benefits....there's no need for more than that in what is a functional and relatively honestly governed place....unlike the UK. The numbers involved there point to **** and pillage.

I agree, people have been laid off work where I am, they have to apply for job seekers allowance, when they eventually get it they are taxed on it.
For every bad luck case, and they are mostly single males like you point out who have worked before, there are families with children, free mobility cars, no council tax, holidays a year who are career non-workers. There are lots of people who get around £6-£7 an hour working shifts, who get basic holidays, no pensions or perks etc and no benefits. The people who get £90 a week, with no rent costs, no council tax, no transport costs and no hassle for 40 hours a week or more are not that worse off compared to some who work. And I can assure you, not everyone finds it humiliating to pick up benefits, especially when they live in the same kind of house, drive better cars and can go out whenever they want, whilst others have to work for the same standard of living.
