"Of course I fancy a fight in Las Vegas," said Froch. "But maybe not with Golovkin. I hear he hits too hard," he said, tongue in cheek. from nottinghampost Thoughts?
It will be interesting to see the mindless drones that avoid the embellished portion of this statement. He does seem to hit hard though.
Looks like Groves hits too hard as well going by his 1st round visit to the canvas...and getting up and wobbling back to the ropes on rubber legs.
Carl Froch was obviously being sarcastic, but I think a Groves fight is much bigger for his next fight anyway and if groves wins then there will be no golovkin fight at this stage in frochs career, but I think froch beats golovkin anyway.
Yeah a rematch should make loads of money... A Groves win and its all square... A third fight makes even more...
Put down the Meth pipe son. Who has GGG defeated at the level of Froch? LOL, you goons would hype up your crusty ole grandmothers against opponents.
Froch wants to calm down with the downplaying of fighters. Should learn from what happened when he underestimated Groves' power.
full version : CARL Froch says he has no intention of retiring and insists he has a couple of big more fights left in him. Froch initially said he would be open to a rematch with George Groves, following their world title fight in Manchester on Saturday night which 'The Cobra' won with a ninth-round stoppage. But the 36-year-old from Nottingham has plenty of other options. They include a rematch with American Andre Ward, who beat him in 2011. But Ward would have to come to Britain this time, and he appears reluctant to do that. Then there is WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. "Of course I fancy a fight in Las Vegas," said Froch. "But maybe not with Golovkin. I hear he hits too hard," he said, tongue in cheek. Froch was left battered and bruised around the eyes and mouth after his fight with Groves and now intends to spend some time with his family, take a well-earned holiday in the sun and then get back in the gym. "Rachael has booked a holiday in Dubai and I'm looking forward to that," he said. :hey "After that I'll sit down with Robert (McCraken), who is the best corner-man in the business, and see where we go next. I've still got a couple of big fights left in this old body." Froch paid tribute to Groves in the dressing room after the fight. "He was tough but I broke him down in down in rounds seven and eight," he told the Post. "I got hit by some big shots and got put on the seat of my pants. But I'm a warrior and I got back up to stop him. "The referee was right to stop it. He was six inches away from the fighter and can look into his eyes and make an educated decision. People in the crowd see something different. "But you cannot argue with the referee, he was just doing his job. I think he could have saved George's career because I was lining up some big shots that would have finished him off. "I'm devastated that I got booed. The crowd were brilliant but I can understand them being upset because the fight was just hotting up and they wanted more. "Another few seconds and I would have been a hero. "But it was a good fight wasn't it? What did you think? I think we gave value for money. "I was on auto pilot in there. I know I took a few too many right hands but I wished it had been 15 rounds and not 12, because I felt so strong." Froch admitted that Groves had now shown that he can mix it at world level now. "I've got a lot of respect for George Groves," he added. "I think he will go on and be a world champion one day. But this was my night. You know me, I always find a way to win." Good interview. I appreciate Froch and Groves, don't see what the former has done to deserve all the abuse he is now getting.
As has been pointed out Froch is kinda joking (an' he better be, cos Froch vs GGG is one of my wishlist fights). TBH Carl will earn a lot of money and stacks of Brownie points (which don't buy as much) for a Groves rematch, perhaps at the O2. Not only that, but it's possible the loss in popularity would impact on revenues for any fight except Groves. Hard to see what would make him more than Groves II- perhaps Chavez Jr or Kessler III? I'm not sure there's massive interest in a Ward rematch.
The big interest for Froch vs Groves II pretty much annulates a third fight between Froch and Kessler. JCC is a LHW - CW and I don't think he would accept to come in UK to fight Froch. IMO some intersting $ options would be a rematch with Bute in Canada if Bute wins the fight with Pascal. And another good $ option would be Froch vs Hopkins @ 168 - 170 pounds in UK (London). :good
this might not be as obvious as one would think. froch is 6 1 ggg is 5 11 froch has the height and reach and we dont know if ggg would bring his power with him to 168. i would think ggg would need at least 1 tuneup fight at 168 before taking on the big boys.
