I watched it just now after being able to avoid the result. I will be honest i like Taylor i think hes a good fighter and a nice guy, Froch i feel is quite cocky. My Scorecard read Froch: 2,4,9,10,11 Taylor: 1,3,5,6,7,8 (Scored KD in the 3rd) Total: 105-103 Taylor This fight started off slow i felt Taylor won the first round with some crisp right hands. The 2nd round was Froch for me i felt Taylors workrate dropped and Froch just outworked him but it was close but i favoured the champ. Taylor won the 3rd again with his sharper eye catching shots and the fact he hurt Froch 3 times and dropped him once. the 4th was Frochs again IMO with his better workrate the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th went to Taylor with his sharper boxing and skillset, the 8th was a closer round but for me Taylor seized it with a last minute rally. the 9th, 10th and 11th went to Froch as Jermaines workrate slowed down but Taylor was landing pretty classy shots but just not enough he took these rounds off Right the finale i had Froch down by 2 he had to KD him to get a Draw IMO. Frcoh comes out Taylor comes out and they fight Taylor got hurt and i was pleading with him to stay up i was shouting stay up. Then he was getting battered across the ring i was just praying he could stay on his feet. Then it happened he was in his own corner and got dropped really heavily. He looked gone my heart sunk, but he bravely and i dont knwo how got up at 9 and carried on. But to no avail he was out on his feet he was driven back on the ropes with a vicous barrage of punches then the ref stepped in rightlly with about 15 seconds left. I felt Froch was amatuersih his style is a atrocious it is holding him back abit like Naz. He tries them leaping uppercuts and lead left hooks which are pathetic i dont think he landed 1 of them. When he does tis he ignores the fundamentals and is not a world class operater. Then he starts to use his jab and he improves but i still think he is a level below the world class as his fundamentals arnt good enough. I cant fault his heart and determination but the only reason he won thsi fight is because of Taylor it was Taylors fight to lose and he has stamina problems and thats the only reason. Taylor was class tonight as good as he has been in a while but his stamina problems still haunt him and i dont think he will ever shake them off especially since he lacks that 'Bad Intentions' to finish fights early and be a true great. I hope he can come back from this but i doubt it and would like to see him retire. As for the future for Froch what will we see. I see afew easy defences next, dont get me wrong i respect Froch taking the hardest fights but i think fat Hennesey knows his limits and will try and get a bit of money from him first. I think maybe a match with Allan Green is a realistic safer defence for Froch. Then if he survives them defences i think he might challenge Anthony Mundine, Mikkel Kessler etc... but i fear he will lose to them. I respect Carl Froch and what he is trying to become but i know see his weaknesses and that he isnt all the hype he states, i will admit i got sucked in but seeing that fight was a eureka moment for me i know he is beatable. This fight is a warning for Froch to learn the fundamentals and break bad habits but i feel he is stuck in his ways so this fight is the blueprint to beat 'The Cobra'
Kessler doesnt have the speed or slick skills of Taylor, so it would be a completely different fight. Bute does, and although i dont think he's the best in the division, not by a long way, he's probably be the toughest fight for Froch. I'd back Froch to be no worse than a 50/50 shot against the likes of Pavlik, Green or Kessler, but i'd say ute would be the favorite if they fought.
froch won in the only way i thought he could, by beating taylor at the end as taylor gassed, taylor has always had problems with stamina nd maybe its just his genetics, froch rallied to the end but he will struggle against kessler imo
froch beat an exposed HBO hype job hes not the best not when Kessler, bute, green, andrade and may be abraham are still breating if froch is so highly praised at Beating taylor what does that make kelly pavlik an ATG
So you think: (a) Taylor last night was 'class, as good as he has been in a while'. (b) You would have scored the fight a draw had Taylor somehow clung on for the last 14 seconds. (c) Froch was exposed I'm not sure that all adds up.
Taylor is a decent fighter, its just a good win to go over to the US and beat a top fighter some more than others Taylor was as good as hes been for a while but his old problems that he had in his prime were still there yes it would have been a draw on my card but Taylor would have won on the judges card yes froch was exposed he looked amatuerish and shows the gulf in class between him and the top fighters he even looked awkard and clumsy
People keep saying that Taylor gassed, but I thought he still looked strong going into the later rounds. I think any fighter going into the 12th round with Froch would be close to exhaustion, it doesn't necessarily mean they have inherent stamina problems....
but Taylors punch output was low from about the 7th onwards he was slowing down and getting tired and i wouldnt say Froch was making him fight a hard fight it was a relativly slow fight IMO but he also has a history of gassing out
Purists don't like his style....... but he gets the job done, and his composure in the last round was fantastic, they way he stalked down Taylor was a joy to behold. The only way Carl is gonna lose is if someone... just runs around jabbing him for 12 rounds.... anyone who goes into the trenches with him is going to lose
