froch Next two fights

Froch is not a LHW. A fight with Hopkins would be an incredibly stupid fight to take.

 

Rematch Ward in Vegas.

 

A fight with BHop would be a sell out and make huge money for both. Froch is 36, so why not pick up a few million. Not a bad chance of winning either. Then if he loses - there's even more bo for a rematch on Wembley...

 

I think that he should take an 'easier' fight against Bika for the WBC title. He could have this unification in Vegas to satisfy his desire to fight there. Assuming he comes through that (which he should), they could sell a massive fight at Wembley again with Ward for all the marbles. This could be his final fight.

Many people will say "Why should Ward travel to Wembley?" - but the truth is that Froch would have 3 belts, it would be THE ultimate Super Middleweight contest, and it would sell out a stadium and make him WAY more money than he is used to.

No-one outside of the USA has any idea who Ward is, and so a fight of this magnitude on the world stage would make his name that much bigger - which should be an added incentive for him to take it. More money, more fans, and more belts. It just makes sense for him.

 

If I was him my next 3 moves would be:

1. Beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Las Vegas
2. Return to the UK and fight Kessler for a third time
3. Retire.

 

Why not Chavez Jr. in Vegas, or a rematch with Ward and retire.

or you could slip in GGG or Ward in England as the farewell fight.

I wouldn't bother fighting someone like DeGale though if I was Froch and considering my exit route in boxing. DeGale v Froch isn't even that big in the UK. Kessler will be a series decider and would give Froch a good chance to go out on a high.

The only legit belt Froch holds is the IBF. The WBA strap was a gift (Ward is the 'true' holder). Same with the WBC strap, Bika is merely a paper champ.

 

That as the case may be, it would still be the biggest fight of Ward's career - both in terms of scale, publicity, and rewards in both financial and prestige terms.

It's a fight he has already won in the past, so he should absolutely have no problems taking it if he believes he can beat Froch again. Unfortunately for him, Froch would be the A-side in this fight and could dictate where it would be fought. It's unfortunate that the 'better' fighter would be on the B-Side, and a sad reflection of the 'money talks' culture of modern boxing...but it's still makes a lot of sense.

For Froch it's a huge send-off fight with everything on the table, a chance for redemption, and a pension payday. For Ward it's a HUGE fight - far bigger in scale than anything he has done before - plus a huge payday to face a man he has already beaten. His profile will benefit enormously on both sides of the pond. What is there to lose?! :good:thumbsup

 

Hopkins will never fight Froch I guarantee it, Hopkins can say all he likes but he will never sign that contract.

Hopkins has picked his opponents wisely since calzaghe they all have one thing in common, mental or stamina / workrate issues normally both.

Froch is all wrong for this older hopkins, froch is iron willed he wont allow hopkins to dictate the pace and fight at hopkins chosen workrate just like calzaghe showed a high workrate and sheer core fitness and high output is bad news for hopkins.

I been saying it for years Hopkins don't want none of Froch and I will be proven right the fight wont happen it will be Froch vs Chavez.

A guy like froch that comes on stronger rounds 6-12 and maintains that workrate I can see hopkins being stopped or looking for a way out from exhaustion.

Lets not kid ourselves what hopkins has done is amazing but come on it's all against guys with stamina issues or just plain overrated and barely heard of like shuminov.

Even shuminov has stamina issues and is predictable froch is the complete opposite of all these guys in terms of output and abilty to take punches and still come on stronger and stronger down the stretch.

It's okay fighting the pascals and clouds who throw 2 punches a round and are just happy to coast to round 12 for the paycheck froch is a completely different animal.

Whens the last time you saw hopkins knock anyone out ? or even hurt anyone decent ? sorry no no no froch all wrong for hopkins now.

 

Let's look at some of the guys who have outboxed Froch;

Ward
Groves
Taylor

Look at Hopkin's career. The key to beating him is speed and athleticism. Please show me anyone who has beaten him who doesn't have those characteristics. Speed and athleticism are two things Froch certainly doesn't possess. Froch is also all wrong technically. Sure, Froch has been outboxed before only to rally and score a KO. However, what are the chances of him doing that to Hopkins? Froch's lack of footwork, footspeed, and hand speed would allow Hopkins to pick his ass a part and cut down his work rate. Froch is also no match on the inside against Hopkins as well.

Considering how lost Froch looked against Ward, I think he would have a hard time beating Hopkins. I'm not saying Hopkins is better than Ward at this point. However, Hopkins can present many of he issues that Ward did; issues Froch had seemingly no answers for.
