FROM WARREN.TV- 31 year old Carl Froch challenges for the WBC super-middleweight title tonight against Jean Pascal, and a couple of weeks ago spoke of his frustration at not getting a fight with Joe Calzaghe. "People get swerved all the time," he said. "It's politics - the promotional divide. Calzaghe (was) promoted by that geezer, Frank Summat..." Just to refresh your memory Carl, the surname is Warren the "geezer" you met at the Westbury Hotel with your advisor not many moons ago. You told me your contract was up with promoter Mick Hennessy - the geezer who has put the money up for you to fight for a world title in your home town. I offered you a fight against Joe Calzaghe, but you seemed more interested when he was going to go up to light-heavyweight. You made it very obvious certainly from your body language that you didn't fancy the fight, that told me everything I needed to know about you.
Because we all know Fwank speaks the total truth. ESPECIALLY when it's about someone he feels personally slighted by.
He's probably not. Froch is not stupid despite his big mouth, he seems a keen analyst. It's easy to talk when you know you are no position to make a fight.
IMO this may have an inkling of truth, why would frank warren want to give calzaghe any credit after he split with him to co-promote his own fight against jones.
And to you Frank, the fact that you consistently refer to Froch as 'you' exposes the piece as not a journalistic article but an attack on someone Warren feels wronged by. warren is an incredibly bitter man. can someone do a poll - whose the most bitter man in boxing: warren or calzaghe?
Warren spoutes of crap left right and centre, I have no doubt Froch was offered a fight with Calzaghe, in fact i remember the offer, Warren said the offer was for more than what Calzaghe got when he had his first title fight with Eubank...though the Calzaghe Eubank fight was over 10 years ago...
Warren did offer Froch a fight with Calzaghe - prior to the Kessler one being made. However, the money was like, well, peanuts and the deal will most probably have included options for the remainder of Carl's career. However, Frank is gonna talk **** forever and a day about Froch, because he was desperate to sign him back in 2002 - he was also desperate for Haye after the Maccarinelli fight but didn't get him, so talks **** about him as well. He even talked **** about Lennox Lewis because he didn't get him in 1989!
I mean, sorry for those that don't know Warren, but much like Don King everything he says and does is all about how it serves himself. It's given him a long and successful career as a boxing promoter. But please don't mistake his comments for pearls of wisdom. It's very easy to read between the lines.
Is Froch really worth losing a ***** over? If he meets Kessler then loses, he will end up back at European level. Hardly the stuff of dreams.
