No it isn't nor was it ever the consensus view , I have not heard many people at all talking about Pascal - Froch as a glorified punch up... and same goes for Taylor - Froch, The majority of people on this board seem to think that it was a close fight, that Froch won by TKO in the 12th... I don't know where you are getting this from
I wouldn't say there are many posters on here who have froch winning easy. Some are more confident froch will win but hardly any think it will be easy. Also on the froch being over rated subject.. assuming that carl froch wins and wins well, will the ones who have picked a easyish dirrell win, now give carl the respect he deserves? or will it be because dirrell was overhyped and you'll go on about how carl can't beat real opposition like kessler?
Please read before typing. I take full responsibility for the fact that the irony/satire in my original post wasn't obvious to the less discerning. I also made the error of not clearly stating that I hadn't seen Dirrell fight other than snippets/youtube. I make mistakes, but I'm definately not a lemming/wagonist!!:hi:
Winning handily ? erm I had it even going in to the 12th the biased hometown judging had taylor ahead by miles though.
The thing is this fight can go either way, ive seen 6 of Dirrell's fights and i can understand why someone would pick him over Froch because there is a big disparity in speed & Boxing skills, Froch has also shown he is susceptible to being outquicked/outscored. But the intangibles to why Froch could also win go beyond just being more experienced at this level, he did not beat Pascal/Taylor out of luck, he beat Pascal/Taylor because he is a robust consistent fighter with a good chin and an excellent stamina, however Froch will only be to implement these things if Dirrell fights the wrong fight. My own personal view is that Dirrell has a poor defence, he also has pretty average footwork, albeit he does have good footspeed which can make up for his footwork, he has never been 12 rounds, he has been hurt in the past , but with all that said i think he can win this fight relatively easy if he keeps the fight in the middle of the ring, Taylor took Froch to school in the middle in the ring, its only when Taylor stopped puncing that Froch came on, people like to say that Froch started slowly but i dont buy that, he (Froch) could get nothing done whilst was active and whilst they were fighting in centre of the ring, when Taylor stopped punching Froch knew he had less to worry about in terms of taking counters in return so he knew he could let more of his sell out dumb ass shots go, he became more active and Taylor going to the ropes made life even more easy for him. Now this is thing............Dirrell does more backing up than Taylor (voluntarily) and if he gives Froch the kind of momentum Taylor gave him he could steam roll him, that said Taylor would of still won that fight had he stayed upright so............. This is about as 50/50 as Taylor/Froch was in my book, however the emphasis is more on what Dirrell does wrong more so than what Froch does right, Froch should in theory not be able to compete with Dirrell in a Boxing match, so its a case of can he capitalize if Dirrell fights the wrong fight and gives him a window of opportunity.
Really ? Would some drunk british fans jump in the ring and help? Is that why? lol , stfu you ignorant ****.... probably the dumbest poster on the site.
it is a fair comment. He would have settled earlier and had less nerves in my opinion but again.. it wasn't so it's irrelevent.
Froch isn't a difficult boxer to analyse. What you see is what you get. He has a poor defense, easy to hit, pretty slow, questionable reflexes, not much tactical awareness, very average footwork. But then you also have to add that he's strong as an ox, has a good chin, great power and a mighty heart.
