:patsch And therein lies the problem with the 'lineal' championship.

Agree, but Hopkins for the Ring belt was light years ahead of the WBA "World Title" against M'Baye.

If you happen to beat the champ in a fight, you become champ. If there are ten guys better than you your still the World Champion until you lose or retire.
You don't have to be the best or rule 20 years to be "The" Champion of the World.

But that's clearly stupid. Zsolt Erdei still hasn't lost so what.. his last fights against Samson Onyango :patsch and Byron Mitchell :-( were for THE Light Heavyweight World Championship as well?

Obviously that's linear titles for you and as I said that's the whole problem with it. My main beef was that people calling really, really average boxers like Gavin Rees world champions over genuine number 1s like Joe Calzaghe and that's stupid.

    How you doing Bomber?

I disagree, I think Froch has the ability to beat Ward. And we haven't seen Wards whiskers tested too much and I think we will in this fight.

So when are Sky gonna start building you and the sheep shagger up?:bbb

I'm inclined to agree, though the Kessler win is where the arguement comes from.

Though I don't believe beating the man necesarily makes you the man. Styles and all that.

I think Froch had a bad day at the office against Kessler. Poor effort from Froch. Hopefully I'm right and the following will happen.

    Froch beats Ward
    Kessler beats Bute

    Froch vs Kessler
    Ward vs Bute

Based on educated guesses, how much would it cost to make a buy out of the 'top 4' orgs?

Thing is, if you made 'one title', the business sharks would be smart enough to start a new one up......and casual boxing fans ain't hard to convince

It's usually a bit too easy nowadays, I'm glad the legitimate no.1 and no.2 have basically cleared out the division between them (except from a guy who's happy to face the likes of Brinkley, Magee and Mendy, none who are feasibly ranked in the top ten.

I think it's clear to most discerning boxing fans that Mendys performance in the Bika fight earns him the honour of being KTFO by Bika in the first, regardless of what Boxrec says.

Ward and Froch are neck-and-neck at no.1, Froch having better overall comp' with Ward beating the guy I had at no.1 (and who I now have at no.3) funnily enough the only fighter to genuinely 'beat' Froch.

They've both fought their way to the top, and The Ring rankings have earned a bit more respect from me for shifting it around and lending their 168 title a real air of legitimacy. The Ring champ can bin the rest (am I right in thinking their is no sanctioning fee for The Ring belt?) Up until a couple of years ago, we all knew that The Ring belt was THE belt, The Ring should start to push it through a bit more. Another reason why I would've loved to see Pac stay at 140, he was The Ring champ' and the legit' no.1, and yet you never hear of it now.

I find it really hard to believe that promoters with no.1 and no.2 fight for pithy titles, surely binning 'em and fighting for The Ring title is just as prestigious? I mean, the casuals see shiny belts, they don't give a **** what letters are in there! Sell it as for 'The Ring the most prestigious title belt' (obviously better than that FFS I'm on stream of consciousness Kerouacian mode here ;-)) strip Manny of his and have Khan/Judah Vs Bradley for it.

Unless of course there is a sanctioning fee :patsch

All lineage is assumed, how many times have I got to say that?!??!? Technically there is no lineal HW champ for starts, and hasn't been since Gene Tunney.

    WTF?!!!?!???!

What did Froch do wrong? Kessler made one adjustment and out punched him throughout, how could Froch have done anything different?!?

I also hate the fact people still think the WBC is the title to go for, it's the 'green belt', all it has is history, it's now arguably the worst out of all of 'em.

imo there should be a ward kessler rematch maybe in denmark this time ward loses imo and then kessler froch, say nottingham froch wins imo.
this imo should all happen after super6 but knowing boxing probably wont :dead
