Nope the venue hasn't been decided on yet, but Kalle Sauerland has been very vocal about getting the fight to Herning. In fact Herning has been considered a done deal by all the Danish media virtually since just after the Ward fight.

Thanks. Then i see no problem with them holding it there. It's their show, their choice. I alos see no problem with Froch voicing his displeasure, and trying to get a better venue for his fans, as long as he doesn't jeopardize the fight.

I don't understand why Herning has been selected as the venue though. From what I understand it's a small town in the middle-of-nowhere which is further away from the aiports than the other proposed venue. More to the point, Kessler is FROM Copenhagen so this doesn't make much sense.

As we haven't been told that the Copenhage arena was unavailable I can only assume that the promoters chose Herning for some kind of perceived tactical advantage.

Froch is quite right - a fair number of English fans would have been keen to spend a weekend in Copenhagen while supporting their fighter. Nobody is going to travel to a small town which has nothing to do and is more difficult to get to.

I think Kessler would prefer Copenhagen too, but no big issue here.

Froch just disappointed. He dreamed fore years to fight Kessler in front a big audience. Football stadiums like home ground for Nottingham Forrest or Parken, Copenhagen.

The date is set, but still no news about the venue....................

Well your understanding is wrong then. Messecenter Herning is set up to handle these kind of sporting events, accomodating guests and transportation should not be a problem. Hell the British can take the ferry to northen Jutland and the train directly from there.

The homepage of Messecenter Herning is even in English:

    http://www.mch.dk/MCH-PORTAL-UK/MCH-UK.aspx

I really can't see the problem here...

because Ferry and train are more time consming than a direct flight to a capital city where there is something to do!

If they want to organize a ferry / train combination specially arranged for reaching the fight, they have to do it NOW. That needs time to organize and start the promotion, so you get an understanding of how many people will use it.

Well then take the plane to Billund airport...

    http://www.bll.dk/?sc_lang=en

Then take public transportation to Herning

    http://www.rejseplanen.dk/

Public transportation tend to intensify when there are larger events.

    Still can't see the problem...

    Are you for real?

The reason it's a 'problem' is because Copenhagen is a major European city with lots of things to do and see and bars/pubs/clubs for those that want a night out. It's a place people would probably be interested in going for a weekend regardless of whether there's a fight on.

People aren't going to take a plane, a ferry, and 2 bus journeys to watch 3 hours of boxing and spend the night in a b&b.

When most people (including myself) travel abroad for a sporting event, they want to see and do other stuff. Copenhagen has this. Herning doesn't. It's simple.

I'm hopefully going but clearly Froch will have far less fans in Herning than Copenhagen

I'm dead serious... If they are going to hold the event in Herning then that is where it's going to be. Transportation for these events in Herning is usually not a problem (ekstra busses and trains are usually available).

Tell my why should Sauerland host the event in Parken if they can't draw enough fans to fill up the venue? How many fans are going to travel for this fight?

Really a storm in a cup of tea if you ask me.
