I just had a look at flights and there are direct flights from Stansted to Billund although only two a day, and it seems the bus service to Herning isn't very frequent although couldn't find a timetable. Any ideas?

Plus another difficulty could be hotel rooms, which obviously wouldn't be a problem in Copenhagen

Messecenter Herning is a nice venue, and better than most of the proposed ones in København, and this really is minor. Also, i don't see the problem in getting to Herning, but it is true that Copenhagen is a much nicer city as a turist.

Locations don't matter for the hardcore armchair fan.

Yeah, I'm surprised all these details weren't sorted out from the get-go. It's like they didn't think any of this stuff out beforehand. I find it very odd...

The fight should be in Copenhagen, bigger city, bigger venues, more easily accessible for the fans. Why you would hold a fight in a city of 45,000 over a city of 1.8 million is beyond me.

Good insight. Most Americans know nothing of these maybe not so minor details. These posts have me guessing that Copenhagen has a major airport with convenient means of transportation, hotels, etc., while Herning can only be reached by travelling hundreds of miles up a windy mountain road covered with snow, uphill both ways, or someting ridiculous like that. This is somewhat similar to Kessler protesting three California judges in the Ward fight, maybe not quite as significant. But who knows? If I were an English fighter I'd want as many of those loud, obnoxious, drunk mofos as possible making the trip to Denmark and chanting my name, like when Hatton would visit Vegas.

I don't know about that analogy. Dirrell probably had ten people show up to cheer him on against Froch. Froch is going to have nearly as many English people, err, blokes, likely several thousands, scrambling for tickets as Kessler will have Danish people scrambling. And we all know how the crowds can influence the judges.
