Taylor dont really have any avenues to explore though does he? Does he really want to be fighting Kessler in his 2nd fight at Super middleweight ? nope i doubt it. All this bluster about Taylor 'fighting Hopkins and Pavlik - so why scared of Froch' is boring. Because when he took those fights, he was 'the best' in his mind, an unbeaten champion, defending his titles. Since then he has been humiliatingly knocked out cold inside 7 rounds and outpointed by a slugger. Suddenly his $3m dollar pay days are looking few and far between as a 'former champion'. If Froch smokes Taylor, which im confident he will, then Taylor and you can include Dibella as well in this, are finished. Dibella will only have the non-entity talent that is Andre Berton that could fight in my back yard and i would draw the curtains.
The rules for a purse bid is to give 70% to the champion. If there is no TV coverage, the only way to make some cash with the event is to make it in UK. And Taylor won't go to UK. He wants to fight on Showtime in March. For him, it's not only one fight, it's probably a multiple fights contract with Showtime. Maybe already signed.
And Froch knows this fight is off if it goes to bid. He is seriously deluded if he thinks he hold bargaining power over Taylor because of the belt. In fact you could say letting this go to bid is Froch's way of ducking Taylor.
Didn't realise the 70% was set in stone. If the money is in the UK then Taylor has to at least think about travelling, plenty of other fighters around the world do it even the champs sometimes. Not wanting to travel is not really a good enough excuse for him at this stage of his career,Im sure Froch would travel to him but he will want to be paid the lions share for doing it.Taylor cant have it all his own way
Taylor-Froch Update: Lou DiBella and Mick Hennessy, as of early Wednesday, are speaking directly so there's a chance this fight might be made voluntarily. The WBC purse bid remains on for Jan. 30! Don Majeski isnt blaming anyone for the war of words flying between the Carl Froch and Jermain Taylor camps. The Queens-based agent, who works on Forchs behalf but has often toiled for Taylor promoter Lou DiBella, thinks the nonsense will come to an end on Jan. 30 with a set in stone WBC purse bid for the super middleweight title bout. I dont know why they dragged you and Boxingc********** into this but I suppose the publicity doesnt hurt you and the site, Majeski said late Tuesday night. "And, all; of a sudden, Froch has gotten more publicity than ever before over here. What I think happened here is that Lou got the wrong conclusion, thinking Froch is not ready to fight, because Lou has not spoken top Mick Hennessy, Carls promoter. I dont understand why Lou is running around searching for opponents for Taylor. His guy is the top contender and theyll get a 55-45 purse split with Froch being the champion. Majeski said that Froch does have tender ribs, which were injured in training for his title winning bout over Jean Pascal Dec. 6, but nothing that will keep him from battling Taylor in a prompt and timely manner. They can stage this fight in the UK or in America, it doesnt matter. Froch is happy to come to the US. Froch wants Taylor next and I think Taylor wants the title chance.
hopkins was the champ, taylor stepped in the ring with the undisputed mw champ, so your wrong..:yep then he actually lost his belts, if you wasnt aware of that, you know the pavlik fight.. taylor wanted to regain his belts, which was his second fight as the challenger.. damn it huh.. wrong again,,:hey oh yeah andre berton.. perhaps you mean berto..
I won't comment on Taylor/Froch until more information becomes available, but you don't get it with respect to Dawson/Diaconu. Dawson didn't take "significantly" less money to face Diaconu. He received a nice payday and is getting another big one for the rematch. The decisive factor was that 1) Dawson wanted a big American name to boost his profile and 2) Showtime wanted Dawson to fight a big American name to boost his profile. Showtime said it had not interest in broadcasting from Romania, and it doesn't make sense for a somewhat unheralded fighter like Dawson to fight in a non-TV bout against a nobody opponent. TV makes the matchups happen. Without HBO, Calzaghe/Kessler wouldn't have happened, and without one of the two networks Dawson/Diaconu wouldn't happen. Do your homework on the business side of the sport.
Froch's hand was NOT broken, that is patently false. His ribs are just bruised, IIRC. Could be wrong about that though.
I think Taylor's team has severe doubts about Froch's ability to get in the ring before late April AT BEST, if not later. The WBC has moved the purse bid on this from 1/9 to 1/30, which suspiciously benefits the belt holder in this case, moving back the 90 days in which he will have to start training so that now the fight technically doesn't have to take place until the end of April. Given the fact that Froch has gone on record the last week or so saying he is only able to do light work in the gym at this point because his ribs are still sensitive, I can understand DiBella's doubts that he will be able to enter a full blown training camp in the next few weeks in order for the fight to come off at the end of April without any delays, regardless of how persistent Froch is vocally about his ability to be ready. Hopefully they get this BS sorted and this fight goes through SOON.
Taylor has done nothing at supermiddle except beat the shadow of Jeff Lacy. Froch is chasing Taylor because he has a name and some US draw when he should be gunning for Kessler.
Taylor is Froch's mandatory, so to say Froch is "chasing" him isn't really fair. Froch wants the fight badly though, because he's the biggest name in the division outside of Kessler and opens the door to U.S. money. That's why you hear so much out of Froch and so little out of Taylor. Froch needs Taylor's name and Taylor doesn't need anything from Froch that he can't get somewhere else (a belt).
