I think you sometimes look at Boxing matches and say one fighter won "the fight" while the other fighter won "the contest".

For example, if Taylor had been allowed that famous three seconds against Chavez, he would have won the contest, but you only have to look at them to see who won the fight. I think it's fair to say the same of Kessler and Froch.

i'm a long term fan of carl but its not as if he slaughtered kessler is it!

 

I said similar on another forum, should Bute beat the winner of the Super 6 I still wouldn't class him as the best in the division, the Kessler comments are bit crass though, but he still shows him enough respect.

Froch battering the world's best and Haye smoking both Klitschkos come the end of 2011. Yes please.

 

If he did that, and beat them convincingly then he'd have to be in with a shout.

With wins over Johnson and Ward he would arguably surpass Calzaghe. Even losing to Ward he could still do it.

Who would everyone rank higher between Frochy and Ricky at this point?

It seems Frochy has overachieved, but when the best fight the best it's not always the flashiest that gets the job done. Sometimes it's the fighter with the most grit, or the most tenacious.

Frochy makes up for his lack of pizazz with an awkward and grinding style.

Currently my favourite actor fighter. P4P no.1 at the mo', above Haye and Khan (some already have Amir above Haye)

 

Froch is tight at the weight with a day to spare. He'd benefit from no SMW division and 15 round fights, with the current 175 division and the amount of fights each contender would have to take, Froch could well outlast all of 'em. Dawson wouldn't prosper. B-Hop can't fight too many more times (though he does defy age even now) and Froch has proven himself amongst the best super muddles, currently a better division than light heavy, in which the no.1 (apart from Hop) is a man Frochy beat convincingly already.

With no super middle division, I imagine the top 168lbers would rule light heavy as it stands today. And Frochy would be right near the top.

Then again with his style how much longer will he be able to outlast top level opposition? This is why the best fightinggl the best tells us so much of a fighter and makes the game so interesting.

Floyds style by the way, is not one I imagine prospering in many other eras. Better opposition, bad hands and a busy schedule would see Floyd with a far less aesthetically pleasing record than he currently haves, with some better wins but also more resounding defeats. For example, rising through from 135 to 147 around Henry Armstrongs time.

2 drop outs and yall think bute wasnt invited in?,he so was,and he turned it down to fight bums,let the best beat the best and try take the scraps of the best once they been in wars!.

kessler and direll should fight,the winner of them should fight bute.

 

I have recently started warmin towards Froch, but comments like that about Kessler who had a career threatening injury and who fairly beat him are not needed

 

Kessler gave as good as he got and was the rightful victor. But yes, I'd definitely like to see Froch v Kessler II and Froch v Dirrell II and Froch v Bute; should Froch win the Super Six.
