Regardless of who would have won, there is some truth to what Froch is saying. It's not a good look that a lot of Calzaghe's big name wins were against old opponents. And when you take away Eubank, Hopkins, Roy Jones, there aren't a lot of name wins. Kessler would be the best win. Froch fought a lot of top fighters while they could still be considered prime or near to it. I think he has a better resume of wins in the end. Dirrell, Pascal, Taylor, Abraham, Bute, Kessler, Groves. These fighters all have world champion credentials and none were over the hill. Forget the unbeaten narrative and just look at the wins, it's hard to say Calzaghe's add up to a more impressive set.
Groves and Eubank Jr beat shot middle Abraham just as easily. Dirrell and Pascal didn't even possess basic fundamental boxing skill, they were basketball players. And the Dirrell guy beat him. Kessler was far faded, and beat him. Richie, Robin in the 90s, Starie, Sheika (who beat Glen Johnson), Brewer, Byron, Bika, Delaney etc weren't walkovers.
I saw an interview with him a few months ago and he looked great. The death of his dad hit him very hard and he lost his mum a few months ago too so I’m sure he can be excused if he’s not looking his best.
I've nothing against froch but a retired world class warrior puglist getting a nose-job tells you the man has an egotistical side..in fact he's probably the only boxer ever to have cosmetic surgery purely for asthetics.
His top five 1. Jones Jr 2. Ward 3. Himself 4. Calzaghe 5. Kessler If you put Ward and Calzaghe above James Toney, I'd have a problem. But to put mediocrities like himself and Kessler above possibly the best we've ever seen in boxing at any weight, is absolutely ridiculous. Watching the Froch-Kessler fights, then watching Eubank-Watson II and Benn-McClellan, boy there is a whole world of difference. Not in that mustard.
Froch’s bitterness is so obvious when he talks about Both Calzaghe and Ward that it’s hard to take it seriously now. His ego just can’t deal with the fact most people feel they both outclass him. He can’t be content with the great career he had, he wants people to bow before him and proclaim him unbeatable.
Middle weight shieka who Tony the journey man booth took his 0 two of so years before calzaghe Away man
Apparently Steward had footage of the infamous McClellan-Jones Jr amateur war in '88 (which G-Man won 3-2 on pts) WE NEED THIS
Froch lives on planet Froch population of 1 Calzaghe would of beat up him up for 12 rounds for easy U/D win
