Maybe he was taking a rest? I don't usually go by what most boxing fans say. Most boxing fans are ******ed by nature and don't have a clue of what they are watching. I've seen it plenty of times where a fighter gets knocked down, and lays there for a couple seconds, and gets up like nothing ever happened. Groves in my light would have beaten him regardless of the point lost by the knockdown. His jab was impeccable and even stumbled Froch with it.
:deal Groves was on the ground a lot longer than two seconds, and was staggering back to corner after he did get up. Then was slumped in corner with oxygen. Theres no way this was a robbery.
are you joking? the stoppage THIS TIME was perfectly fine! I don't want anyone to be beaten to a pulp. Groves was obviously finished and shouldn't have fought on.
He's a good poster, not a troll. So he's serious, and I respect his opinion and all. But I just don't agree. That was a very good stoppage. Groves was finished from the second the punch landed.
I don't even think Groves needed the oxygen. People are so caught up in how the knockdown looked, but they forget that Groves was jumping at the chance to get right back up and fight. Shame a good fight had to end this way.
Yep great stoppage. Groves was in no condition to continue. Some people think you need to be knocked out cold in order for a stoppage to be legit.
He might have gotten up but there's no way he would have been allowed to continue he could barely stand a minute after the fight. And what puts this to bed is groves tweet about gktfo.
He could have gotten up at the 9 count. Counts are usually longer than 10 seconds (12-14), and should be given a chance to work his way out of a situation. Groves would have been more than capable of doing such a thing with a good piston like jab that he was popping out all night. If he got dropped again, then maybe it would have been time to call a halt to the contest, but as it stands, I won't accept this as a legitimate victory for Froch yet again. And that's just my standing. Even one of the HBO commentators (I forgot which one) remarked on how their should have at least been a count down.
Jumping at the chance on pure intuition and instinct, that told him the fight was over. Before the ref waved it off, he didn't even move. Most guys who get the nod are actually moving after they get dropped. Look at Khan for example here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou1DL1ZvjO0 He's moving. Getting back to his feet. And has a chance to at least convince the ref he's ready to go even if he's not. Here's the Froch KO. @ 1:25 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEmIIKm4dr4 He's not even close to getting up. And is there before moving for 8 seconds. He was down for about 11. That's the difference. And even after that KO, he wobbled back to his corner half conscious.
Looking at it again, his leg might have had something to do with it, but then again, that was a spectacular right hand. Didn't think Froch was capable of a one punch knockout.
